sacramento; I was on I-5 in july, wasn't even that dirty, and I didn't get a ride for 4 days. I've never waited more than 24hrs in any other city. I got lots of kickdowns though, a hamburger, a joint, free coffee, and a few bucks =)

IDAHO! The whole state should be marked off the map. The cops fucking suck. Got arrested my first night in Boise while I was on a rooftop. They had me in there for 5 days for "disorderly conduct". Everybody in that jail was in there for bullshit reasons. They're so desperate for money, it's disgusting.
The people were pretty nice to us, but it's still not fucking worth it.

Victoria, BC - yeah, the weather is nice, it hardly ever snows in the winter, but people in general have a dislike of street - folks, and the city has just passed a "Good Neighbors" By-law, which makes it illegal to sleep/camp/eat in about a two or three block area downtown. FYI, this area is also where *most* of the resources are.
Dislike Vancouver for a similar reason - its kind of overrated, and there's a lot of strung out people.

soooo much free food in vic, so many rooftops in that three block radius theyll never find you on. sitting on your backpack or the ground isnt allowed tho some cops will hassle you for it. friend of mine got deported back to the states while getting his name run for sitting on the ground. ive made a killing pannin in vic though, im talking like 40 dollars and hour.

where you find Oil money, you will find ass holes raking it in. Calgary has a lot of oil money. I've heard that Edmonton has a pretty cool music scene, but other than that, and maybe a ride up the Ice fields Pkwy (Hwy 93,AB) I would almost say that you should just kind of skip all of Alberta.

If you're hitching through AB, take Hwy 3. It runs SW from Medicine Hat AB, to Hope BC, Its much, much quieter then the transCan but people will be much more likely to pick you up. In Medicine Hat go to the dream center for some soup and a shower. Hwy 3 will take you right through the heart of the Kootenays. If you love weed, then you probably would want to check this place out! Just don't drink the cool-aid.

I say skip everything between Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and Golden, BC....just sayin....especially Thunder Bay, Ontario. Nothing has ever gone good for me in that town.
And I second the Kootenays. Go to Nelson for a bit. raddest town. Hang around Cafe Negro and you'll meet really cool people. watch out for cops and tweakers though. And yeah, don't drink the koolaid!!!.....or you will never leave.

Ventura, CA sucked in my opinion. The busking didnt work out too well, couldn't hitchhike, and only managed to get out of town bc a cop gave me a ride in exchange for never coming back unless i were to be looking for a job.
