I was on a roof in Santa Cruz last year, that was pretty sweet!

They had banned fireworks due to fire danger but people were shooting them anyway, and the cops were buzzing around trying to find people to little avail it seemed.

Anyway, a roof is always a good place for fireworks, and the fourth of July is a good time to drink beer and try to forget why it shouldn't be celebrated.

July 4th? If you want crazy fireworks up close and personal, I suggest a good Chinatown during Chinese New Years. Bring earplugs and a good set of reflexes (safety glasses if not!).

I've never liked the ones around the SF bay. There's just a million people trudging about and so you end up having to be miles away and then of course there's fog. Never been down to Santa Cruz, though. Anchorage sounds awesome. I wonder if I could get up to Alaska...
