As far as camping and just being outside for a while, I'd be dead if it weren't for my Ben's repellent. Although the amount of deet in it is probably killing me anyways, mosquitos drive me up the fuckin wall.

Hard to choose favourite - KNIFE, small monocular for scoping the scene, hammock, nylon/silcone poncho doubles as tent, mec close fitting pack, thin and compact wool top&LJs keep me warm but I guess if I had to choose it would be this--->>Made a stove from a 24oz tomato can a few years ago. Works like magic. Burns small pencil size sticks/twigs in it collected off ground wherever there's trees etc. Boils water in no time. Three skinny tent pegs going up through it from the bottom (hooks down) and pointy ends up. Pointy ends hold pot above rim + hook ends keep stove bottom off ground for air intake thru many holes in bottom. Some holes on side too. Make for next to nothing, fuel free. Plans on internet. Make fire and impress your friends-be View attachment 24132 thier god-be cave leader. Search homemade woodgas stove. Many different versions by different persons. My vagina. In having one, I may convince others to give me exactly what I want.

Yeah, that was kind of a joke. My favorites are my wool socks (they keep your feet dry!) stamps to write letters to my love when I'm gone, my Persian sword, and needles and thread. I cannot choose between any of them, for they are all equally important to me.

my trapperkeeper-ish thing!
anyone remember those from school? It's just a big zippy binder, pretty waterproof...keeps all my art shit from getting ruined more than it already is. It's pretty big though and bright pink (bought it while drunk thinking it was funny...) and not easily accessible and fills up like a third of my pack.

that and saddlebags for the pup, for sure. I always seem to have really shitty gear...

Not my favorite place.
My Bowie. Its all the goodness of a machete + a hunting knife. Endless uses. Chop vegetation, chop wood, chop food, skin crap, dig holes, chisel, stab boars, you name it. And through all of that, its held up marvelously.

Or maybe my banjo.

Aside from my pack my US hydration/cook set

"US Issue 1 Qt Canteen"
http://thekeytosurvival.com/bcbinternational/images/integral_us_canteen_survival_unit.jpg

"US Issue Canteen Cup"
https://www.entrygear.com/productimages/TS Canteen Cup.jpg

"US Issue Canteen Cup Stoves"
"USMC Desert Issue" this stove has a bottom
http://www.bestglide.com/product_images/canteen_cup_stove.jpg
"standard military issue"this stove has no bottom
http://www.commandoknights.com/Uniform & Equipment/hexi-stove Kidney Shape.jpg
both stoves are compatable with the canteen cup and canteen and fin snugly in its cover.

"US Issue Pyropac or Trioxane Fuel"
Pyropac.
http://www.tacticalresponsegear.com/catalog/images/DSC_0118.JPG
Trioxane
http://www.surplusandadventure.com/images/product/main/g_trioxane_2.jpg
Both fuels work well and both last about 15 min enough time to boil water. The Pyropac is gel and the Trioxane is a tablet, but i perfer pyropac because it is a bit smaller

"US Issue Canteen Covers "ALICE"(Old)"MOLLE"(New)"
ALICE
http://youngmilitarysurplus.com/images/canteen-us-cover.jpg
MOLLE
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_k07pirzBU34/TK4mhrzFcDI/AAAAAAAAF9I/Btw4wdEXAgg/s400/MOLLEcanteencover.jpg
I perfer the "MOLLE" because unlike the "ALICE" the MOLLE has two side pouches and are quite larger than the old one
3 trioxane tablets or 3 pyropac pouches fit in each pouch

Another great fuel is "sterno"
not military issue but works just as great and lasts longer
these last up to two Hrs and are reusable it comes in a can just half the size of a 12 oz can
which is why i dont use it i perfer the smaller more compact stuff. These are available in many places i get mine at smart in final for $5 for 3 cans..there are also many different sizes
