trailers are pretty sweet. My dog weighs a hefty close to 70. . . .so just him in there is quite diffulcult. and since when I am home I need to get around for whatever work gigs or labor and such I am gonna spend a couple hundred on an engine. There just seems to be no way I could haul my fella and say even just 3O pounds of gear. anyway a trailer is pretty good. Mine is super light, I can leave him in it when in a building and its yellow so stands out well. It tracks great, has to 2O inch inflatable tires and has a little storage in rear. The thing has two flaps on front that velcro to close it, netting and clear plastic. Cost me a hundred old bastard wouldnt take 8O but updated wikes are pretty damn pricey. I may look into modifiying it though to a covering I make

Holy shit, 70 pounds is quite a lot of weight alone! A motor definitely may be a good investment on yr side. My pup is somewhere between 25-35lbs (I really need to find a scale and weigh her) and I really love the idea of a trailer as a crate almost so I can keep her safe and out of the way. I am looking at the Solvit Houndabout trailers, the smallest one weights 20lbs, not too bad? Just not sure if my dog's ass would fit in there haha. I am finding them on Craigslist for 50-100 bucks. Hopefully I score one soon. Good to hear from you Tatanka!

I've been on foot for a couple of months since I gave up repairing my last bike. Came to Tucson, got some hustle on, landed a legit job for a little while and now have this new steel frame Richey Team bike. Gonna be making tracks soon. Glad to be peddling again

I did the bike thing for about 8 months coming from Florida to Michigan with this rig. Mainly just to carry stuff so I walked most of the time because of the dog and used it going down the hills in Virginia was pretty fun...Just a cheap $50 Schwinn bike and trailer I got on Craigslist.

Sorry having a hard time with slow net lol...This one was custom built, didn't last very long since it wasn't wielded correctly and ended up ditching the bike and trailer in Illinois lol...very difficult to find camps sometimes when you carry something that big...main pro was i could carry a ton of beer when towns were a long distance apart lol.

I am just waiting for my new solar panel to arrive and I will be completely ready to go again.

Here's a Talley of 2016 travel:

20170218_112604.jpg
8700 miles cycled (over 20,000 miles since I started in 2014)
5 countries
13 states
3100 miles hitched

Aiming for 10,000 miles of US riding in 2017 with less hitching (usually caused by catastrophic bike part failure), better paying odd/end jobs, and am ironing out details for some earnings for riding for charity as well.

That's some serious mileage! How do you like the trailer?
I like the BOB trailer vs Burley Nomad for durability mostly. Yrs ago when I was a normal working class cyclist touring I had panniers and they are great for touring. I am living this now and prefer the versatility of a trailer that can be dropped off/left at a camp. Also, #Capacity. Travelling in rural places and National Parks I can haul groceries for days and not have to spend $9 on a $3 jar of peanut butter (Crater Lake NP for example).

This is how I get around d these days. It's hard as hell to be homeless in Boise unless you stay at the shelter. Cops been running me out of my camp spots like every other day. Luckily I haven't gotten any tickets tho

There's a possibility that I'll be in that area at some point. If if it happens around the time of the eclipse, I'll let you know. I've been wondering where a good spot to watch the eclipse will be, but I have no clue where I'll be at the end of August. Ironically, the town I'm currently living in is supposed to be one of the best places to see it from, but I'll be on the other side of the country (hopefully). At least I won't have to be here when all the shitty tourists show up.

This is a friend of mine from a dirty kids facebook group I administrate - I asked him if I could post this here and he said sure!. He's been out traveling for awhile (out around HWY 1 atm) and hooked him up with Matt for the bicycling touring section of his book that is being written (@Matt Derrick - I think his bike has grown a bit since you may have seen a picture of it) - he posted this now as he just bought a banjo and says he made the cost back an hour later busking. Anyway - hell of a set up here. :)
