thrift store leather shoes. I have been rocking the same pair for well over a year. I think they are rockports? Idk best $2 ever spent tho.

I don't like second hand shoes. But I'll get a pair of second hand jeans soon. The jeans I had with me are falling apart (see last photo above) and otherwise I only have a pair of army pants and a pair of very cheap jeans made mostly out of polyester (uncomfortable).

agreed... but once you get athletes foot then it doesn't matter. ;) that shit will never go away, maybe for a month or if you're lucky 6 months. don't wear somebody elses shoes unless you already have the itchy feet... then fuck it.

I forgot I already got my boots resoled a few years ago, but I wore them the day after and apparently the glue was not really dry yet, so the sole of the right one came off partly:

But should be repairable. As said, for me only an option in winter, in summer they are too warm and heavy ...

My fiance has a pair of Red Wings he bought from a thrifty store for years ago, wears them literally all the time. Hot, heavy, but tough.

I have a pair of composite toe Avengers I bought new in the fall, also wear them (nearly) all the time, lighter than the steel toe but still pretty robust.

My Converse Chucks after three weeks in Brighton:

Those shoes were as good as new as I started my trip.

But after three weeks of spending time at the beach, sitting on the ground a lot and walking quite a few miles they got really worn out. Left shoe got a huge hole burned by some glowing piece of wood at a campfire.

The other (more comfortable) pair of shoes I had with me:

The right one fell apart in London, had to fix it with tape.

So note to myself: for the next trip get better, robust shoes.

Cant figure out how to expand pics.

Upload a File. Then, when the file is uploaded, click on the Button "Full Image" ...

Don't need such warm boots here. I'm not going to Alaska. ;) In fact, for my next trip - that will be definitely before Fall/Winter - my current shoes will do, I guess.

Okay, that's a good price ... ;)

I'll definitely not buy any brand shoes in the future. I'll get some skate shoes or alike for 20 € in fall I guess.

IMHO there's huge difference between travelling in the wilderness or just going from city to city by bus or hitchhiking or alike. In the wilderness you need good, reliable gear (including shoes/boots). In urban environments it's not so important, cause if something breaks you can find replacement easily.

These are my beloved cheap boot's,suede and mesh, hardwearing plastic toe guard and waterproofed to death with home made greenland style wax(ok not 100% waterproof but damn water repellant).Pretty good boot's for most terrain, done lot's of muddy trail's in them.Pic also has my much loved cook set too.

The brand is Northside,a cheap U.S. brand. Comfort and function....sad thing is i cant find em in the UK now,got my pair in tk maxx discount chain and it doesnt look like they'll have any more coming in(i emailed Northside directly)They're far more comfortable than Salomon's or Merrells that i've tried.
For the price theyre worth looking at imo.

This was around February. They are looking a little bit more roughed up now. palladium boots. lightweight canvas upper with rugged rubber soles.

I literally bought a pair of these, as well as my friend/brother who will be joining me on an adventure to explore the US. They're so damn comfortable. Not the cheapest for sure, but well worth it.
