Anyone stuck or stagnant in the state of Oregon(as well as SW Washington) will find the following website handy:
211
It is a very comprehensive database of every type of support you could imagine for folks in need. In fact, it is so jam-packed, it might take a while to narrow down your relevant needs/sources.
TIPS:
- If you're not a 'youth' include your age in the search parameters. This will omit services for young ones
- If you are looking for some hot food, check different categories(soup kitchens, hot meals, community meals, etc.), since you might miss one.
- Sometimes, calling 211 is easiest. They have volunteers M-F, 8a-6p PST. I've never waited for a person and they are extremely pleasant and helpful. They really don't want to hang up until you're set.
- You can also use this service by texting your ZIP to 898211. It's a little annoying, but works.
Cheers!
