I'm no expert on hotsprings here in NM but there are quite a few. Finding one that's close and not crowded is harder if not impossible. One I'd love to experience is Jordan Hot Springs in the Gila which requires a full day of hiking but well worth it from what I hear. Northern NM is still pretty cold this time of year but the Gila is looking nice. Doc Campbell's Trading Post on the Gila River has hot springs you can pay to soak in and it's cheap. The scenery there is spectacular, the Cliff Dwellings are nearby and there are cheap Forest Service campgrounds. Lake Roberts is beautiful with 2 nice campgrounds. I'm headed that way soon so hmu if you want specific recommendations or even a tour. I have nothing but time.
