"What's going on in Portland:

Portland Police have been exchanging chatty and collusive texts with extremist right wing activist Joey Gibson, whose Patriot Prayer rallies attract white supremacists and function as an excuse for his gang of Proud Boys to incite violence against protesters.

There's an "investigation" but the police chief says lieutenant Proud Boy is doing a good job and gets a gold star when he comes back to work.

Proud Boys have declared "open season" on Antifa on social media.

A trans woman was assaulted from behind, but Portland Police have invented their own story where she was drunk and fell, and offered that up as the more plausible reality.

Three more attacks. And a black trans person is missing.

"DIE FUCKING DYKE" as a full can of beer is thrown at a queer person on 7th, knocking her down, cutting her face and breaking her glasses. It gets reported as "bruised" by the Mercury, and the top comments on the viral Facebook post are right wingers declaring it a hoax.

QTPOC community suffers the devastating loss of a precious life after a massive community organized search party finds the missing person.

We are hurting everywhere.

We are on high alert.

If you're queer in Portland, if you're vocal online, shut your shit down right now and protect your friends.

I’ve got a lot of friends in Portland that I’ve been talking to and the situation out there does seem to be as serious as this text makes it out to be. I figure the folks here should also be aware if they aren’t already. We all know that travelers already have somewhat of a target on our backs for stuff like this, and if you’re queer or present as anything not straight/cis this is compounded.

I keep up w/ some antifascist friends in Portland and yeah it would be best to steer clear. PP/PB have been attacking random people and a few of their members have been making death threats (look up Skylor Jernigan). There's also been quite a few attacks on rough sleepers but the dudes who did it haven't been identified

They need to be set up. It'd be easier if someone knew who they were. Or a certain location that they target. Stage vans full of big dudes every so often down a certain street, and get queer, or obvious cross dressers to just sort of hang out or walk that street back and forth. When they go to make their move, attack. Catch them in action and give em a taste of their own medicine.

The leaders are very well known- Haley Adams, Tusitala "Tiny" Toese, and many others. Problem is they're in bed with the PPB and get their protection. Also they travel in groups and tiny is like 350 lbs so it's hard to jump em. Plus they avoid group fights, most of the time they fuck with women and people of smaller stature/lesser numbers

Police to stuff like that all the time. Like the guy that was hitting homeless people in the head with hammers while they were asleep. The police set up a decoy and caught the guy. That was in Los Angelos I believe a few years back. 2 hobo's died tho before they decided to set up a decoy

yeah but the police are working with them, they've texted back and forth about if they can assault people and not get arrested. also if people were to jump them w/o getting shot the PPB would be after their asses in a heartbeat. as long as Outlaw is still chief of ppb there's not a whole lot to be done

I hate to sound like a meathead but I'm just not sure that running from this is going to make it any better. Seems like it might be better to face them head on, no? I haven't been to Portland in a long time, maybe I don't know the place that well. Tell me this, how big of a turnout does the Portland pride parade usually have? 70,000? 80,000? How many of these "proud boys" do you reckon are showing up? A couple hundred at best?

This is the same thing that happened in Nazi Germany. You got a ratio of like 100/1 and the 100 are submitting to the 1. Fuck those fools up! Organize and swarm all over them from all sides. Come at them with 10/1 odds and be brave, you won't even need to fight. They won't want any part of it. 50/1 odds, they'll want nothing but to get the fuck out of that town for good. What's gonna happen if you run? The problem is just gonna go away? I doubt it.

"Tiny is 350lbs". In my experience- The bigger the guy the harder they fall. More people need to learn and practice self defense. Krav Maga, Jui Jitsu, etc. I'm a very peaceful, mind your own business guy, but, if someone makes any indication of Ill harm to me or my friends it's game on. If you ever have to scap with someone bigger go for the knees, throat, soft tissue areas!!!

I hope who ever is doing these horrible things to people are found and suffer greatly.

I'd say running is the opposite of what you should do. I say band together and fight the motherf#$&ers! Running means they win, we lose.

as for the fine folk suggesting standing and fighting, i must point out that while there is wisdom there, it sounds like the people being targetted are not likely to be built to be fighters. it can be one thing to fight if you're a decently sized cis dude, but i for one am not the sort to engage anyone in a scrap. i've survived by avoiding danger my whole life.

The only thing that stops violent assholes are other violent assholes with their hearts in the right place, either cops, or from the community getting attacked, or in solidarity. Sad but true.

Maybe they need to import some old-school NY waterfront drag queens. One of the best things i ever saw was a would be gay-basher lying down and bleeding with two sisters kicking shit out of him, and hitting him with their purses with bricks in them. Two of many "oh snap" lines i remember from that epic beat-down: "That's Mister Faggot to you, bitch" and "Don't you ever [kick] ever [kick] mess with a San Francisco street-sissy!"
