Recently had to make a trip to NY for a family emergency could only afford the Greyhound to get there as fast as I needed.

So started my trip in OKC, everything was fine until security (2 guys) we’re talking to the guy sitting across from us. They seemed fed up and kept asking him if he had a ticket, “I don’t have to show you shit, get the fuck out of my face. I’m done talking to you.” Is how he responded. They begged him saying they had dealt with him all day and that all he has to do is show a ticket. One of the security was young, he was nice, the other was older, he was an ass. So old guy starts telling him he has to go. He’s not moving. Old guy grabs his arm and the dude goes ballistic and starts swinging. His phone goes flying and bust across the floor and they just start going at it. They get separated by the young guy and the guy who had been sitting across from me starts leaving and yelling. Old security guard in the most movie cop fashion pulls out his baton and starts doing the tapping it in your other hand thing. Guy sees this and challenges him, old security guard loves this and starts beating the shit out of him. They scuffle outside until all you can hear is yelling and the guy getting beat. Cops show up and stop the fight. Older security guy decides he wants to press charges for assault... until he finds out that the cops need the security footage and he drops it. Eventually they find out he missed his bus and his bag with his tickets and everything were on the bus he missed that was heading to Dallas, so they end up letting him go, but Greyhound wouldn’t let him back on.

Next stop was Tulsa not much here except when we came in they were loading someone in an ambulance and put a bloody shirt in the trash.

Everything from there was calm until we were finally leaving Cincinnati. An older man got on and was about to sit at the front of the bus by me. He was frail looking I asked him if he would like help with his bags, he took it very willingly. I put his bags up and we were started getting out of the station. We were on the road for a minute and he stands up to put the lady next to hims bag in the overhead. I feel like I saw it all play out before it happened. I was watching him struggle, looked ahead and saw a stop light. The light turns red and before I can really think to say something the bus driver stops and he looses his footing, tries to ground himself then falls through the swinging door at the front of the bus and down the steps! All I could see was his feet sticking up twitching, I thought for sure he was dead. Everyone rushes to the front of the bus and trying to help him. He’s stuck head first against the door and the bus driver can’t open them cause traffic is going fast on the side, so they lift him up and put him in a seat. The bus driver makes sure he’s not cut or anything but then asks him if he needs an ambulance or to stay before they leave. He asks near 10 times, and the old man refuses it. Shocker halfway to Dayton he starts complaining asking if there’s another stop in between and complaining about his side, the bus driver is pissed and just hauls ass to Dayton and calls the ambulance.

From there all the way up to New York was pretty dead. Leaving Pittsburgh was pretty and I didn’t think it would be. In Pennsylvania I got to talk to some Amish about trains which was interesting, every time I’ve been on a bus with them they’ve been very stand offish. In Harrisburg I found a RIP Stobe tag, not too surprising the freights ran through the station.

When I got to Corning I got bored and started exploring. I followed the Chemung river for a bit until I found the some trains. Got to go under some of the bridges and look at some of the graffiti. Found what might be either a hang out or a hop out under the train bridge. As soon as I got close to the track it started moving so I didn’t get to check it out as much as I wanted, but it was a scenic walk for sure.

I was planning on taking the bus back but the family bought me a plane ticket home. Nothing too crazy happened, but definitely more going on then back in Oklahoma!

P.s. sorry the photos aren’t the best and mixed up

In the late 90's I rode greyhound for the first and only time from Coeur d' Alane to Redding. 15 minutes after the bus departed, there was a stabbing and had to wait for hours for the bus to be able to continue. 4 hour layover in Portland. South of Portland while everyone was pretty much asleep, someone went into the bathroom and smoked a joint. We were all woken up when the bus pulled off I-5 and the OSP had everyone offload. Searched the bus and everyones bags. Another 3 hours. Early the next morning I was woken up by a few people screaming. The bus driver had the bus sideways on I-5 going down the Siskiyous. Snow and Ice everywhere.

I didn't make it to Redding. I got off the bus in Dunsmuir and had family pick me up.

This past May, my son KC had his first ride on the dog. The Thing we call his mother moved out to Monett Missouri and my son wanted to go out and see if they can work on their relationship. Since AmTrak doesn't go through the Joplin/Monett area, he bought round trip bus ticket. When he got to Joplin, his bag of clothes under the bus was missing. He filed a claim form but after three weeks of the Run A Round, come to find out that after he turned in the claim form, by mistake it was never processed on their side. Oh and there is a reason why they have free Wifi. LOL It never works

For his return trip, about an hour after he departed Joplin the bus broke down and he sat there for 6 hours before another bus picked them up. His bus left Oklahoma City an hour before the tornadoes hit. Between Albuquerque and Phoenix, the bus would breakdown every 10 miles. One of the buses battery terminals were so corroded the bus driver would have to get out fix the terminals. When he got to LA, he was stuck there for another 8 hours.
Greyhound forgot to schedule a driver for the LA-Portland schedule.

As for right now, we have NO idea where his bag is. Greyhound is saying even though he did file the claim, but since it was no processed in due time, they are sorry for his lost luggage and they cannot offer any more assistance. I tell ya, the dog is a bitch. GO AMTRAK

I'm just wondering if his bag was stolen? I always carry my stuff on board just in case like what happen to your son. Every time Greyhound makes a rest stop for meals, I always take my stuff with me due to thieves who like rummaging through backpacks, etc. Keep us updated if his bag was found.

We gave up on getting his bag because if it was stolen there isn't any why greyhound can get it back to him. Just clothes was all that was in his bag. Nothing of value really. They only allowed him 1 carry on bag which had his snacks and smokes and drinks and one change of clothing. His other bag was just a normal duffel bag so it could have been easily picked up by mistake.
