panning in the stream of consciousness for a nugget of precious thought
Right right, friend. Lots of good panning in this thread!

But.
What I am asking is what specific nuggets resonate with you?
Which nuggets do you find comfort in?

Am I wrong in assuming the whole 'global village idiot' schtick is a facade for a very intellectual mind?

Seneca is great. Epictetus too.
Meditations by Marcus Aurelious is another one I loved.

*Amor Fati = Nietzche. Sorry. But also traced back to the stoics. Too much philosophy floating around in this drug ravaged brain of mine.
But....
Speaking of Freud and the Stoics and connecting them;
Its funny how when Freud told us we all wanted to fuck our mothers it was considered controversial. In reality, it was actually old news, as the Greeks figured out that gem 2,000 years prior with the idea of Oedipus. Our social rigidities of present times, ey?

Ever get into Eastern philosophies?
Reading the Dao was game changer for me when I was young.

I learned about this from Eminem.

I learned about this from Eminem.

Ah, yes, the great Eminiminus.
From whom I learned to
"sit back
with this pack
of zig zags
and this weed"

I know @Juan Derlust is a big fan of him too...
because "nothing comes out when he moves his lips, just a bunch of ....."

I heard him and MGK been beefin' or something. Gotta keep up with the kiddos!

A weariness sits heavy on my bosom as of late.

All of my ideals and missionary pursuits end up as ephemeral spooks that vanish upon closer inspection.

So many wishes and spells, yet this anarchy runs through my veins. I have found no outlet for it.

I may be postposing my higher endeavours in order to cybertrash it for awhile. I know not where that road would lead me. Nothing of a star magician that's for sure.

Cybertrashing in London can very quickly lead to a life of crime and delinquency and with present events, possible insurrection, though that is one topic i prefer to abstain from on the interwebs.

When you feel chaos running around inside you, bashing against your ribcage, electrocuting through your synapses. What do you do? Do you give in?

Kingdom is not just desired out of egoist ends. It is being created for refuge and protection from making regrettable choices. Giving a clear boundary between me and the world, as a way of occupying my time with plants and potions rather than conspiracy and the concrete underworld.

Dearest @StarMage,

If I may...
In regards to looking to quell weariness and chaos in ya; the outlet for anarchy is not found in cybertrashing in London. That would be plugging into the source.

You like paganism and wicca stuff.
Which is essentially nature worship.
Nature is chaos and to immerse yourself in it is to be one with it, be who you are, and no longer feel so fucking chaotic.
Certain ancient moods and feelings can only be elicited by nature.
What Im saying is, go get lost in nature for a month. Dont chase urban life.

I was chattin w @Older Than Dirt the other day and he had a gem. Paraphrasing but
'physical danger is one of the best remedies for listlessness/indecision.

Lastly.
If you pay attention as the years pass, youll realize the kingdom is in you.
No need to build it.

@MFB Thank you for that, i needed the reminder for sure.

Nature, ah what volumes could be written without even breaching the surface.

Why do i forget her healing powers so readily? Ready to do battle with these ghosts, creating further illusion and chaos within my own sphere of influence.

You are right, to go further into the beast would be a folly of Nietzschean proportions, and yet, when spooks are all around you, sometimes you can't help but to swipe your arms haphazardly as you are stoked into a blind fury.

To seek the counsel of the elders, that is what i would wish for.

For what you suggest would be akin to a Walkabout. An aboriginal tradition of walking until you meet yourself. That idea has interested me for some time..

As you say, I may need a month in nature, with my books, plants and journal.

Why do i forget her healing powers so readily?

Because we are all so indoctrinated in the modern world, which is designed to tickle our senses with fast food and internet porn and all the rest. We get consumed in the noise and forget to look inward. It's easy to do and I am guilty of it as well. But I am always happiest and healthiest after a long stint in nature. That being said, I still like sleeping in a bed and fucking around on the interwebs. Finding the balance is hard.

I was looking for an essay I read where a Japanese professor did a study;
He measured the participant's hormone levels,
for a month he took the participants up to a forest, spread them out, and made them sit in nature in silence; every day for an hour a day.
After the month he again measured the participant's hormone levels.
I'm sure y'all know what happened.
Stress hormones way down, relaxation hormones way up. In all participants.

I couldn't find the essay, but I came across this mediocre synopsis that is comparable in content.
Worth a read if ya got ten minutes.

Every modern sage seems eventually embroiled in some scandal or another of a sexual nature.

Is chastity so hard?

Or is it the power afforded to one of your stature that creates a lust within your own bosom?
A power that draws near those beings that may perform subtle influences upon you in your quiet hours.

Maybe the real sages never even put pen to paper, never gave a lecture, never opened a centre.

The anchorites knew, then look how they were treated. The law of inverse working it's magic again.

I can feel it slipping again, and yet, when it starts to slip is when my writing becomes the more prolific.

@roughdraft draft ZING!
Worded perfectly. You have leveled up in funny.

@StarMage Yes chastity is hard!
Have you ever tried?!
I did a year of self imposed abstinence bc I decided relationships were the main cause of strife in my life.
I got used to it eventually,
and then I had sex, and realized how much it sucked!
For me, any sage is gonna realize the natural drive in us that is sexuality, our need for it, and the absurdity in trying to be chaste.
Real sages be bonin' for hours! ;)
