Where to begin?

I'm an immature, but kind person. I have difficulty owning up to my mistakes, and I don't deal with stress as well as others. I've never been able to hold a job for more than 3 months, and my anxiety attacks make me feel like I just got done running 3 miles.

I'm hoping that I don't end up homeless, but if it comes down to it and I have no other option in two weeks, and find a job, I have an idea of where I want to go. But, it probably won't be permanent. I need a chance to find myself, and see to it that I'm finally at peace with my demons, or at least learn how to fight them. I'm planning on being a nomad until I can find the answers I'm looking for, and if my friend doesn't invite me to stay with them when I make my way there I may just wander the states, looking for people to share my experiences with.

I'm heading to Wisconsin, heavily unprepared in terms of supplies and food. I might not even be able to replace my broken tent, which will leave me unprotected from the elements on my journey.
I'm hoping for some assistance, but not asking for it. I've rebelled and begged my way through life, and I don't want to resort to that anymore. But, for right now I don't have any other option.

I have minimal experience camping, and I've picked up enough info to keep me alive online via tutorials and forums. So, if I don't have a lot of experience under my belt, but I'm staying optimistic.

Please, feel free to PM me, I could use the help and advice.

When I mean by "lightly" i mean by "pack enough stuff but not too many". There's a guide on how to hitchhike on the forum.
I'm not looking to hitchike, I'm walking all the way there. and I don't have any funds, so food is gonna be hard, as well as supplies that I need to survive. I have a life straw bottle, so that solves my water issue.

You dont really need a tent if youre gonna be on foot. I sleep outside mostly and carry a tarp and paracord. Tents are heavy.. and they tear and fall apart easily with a lot of use. Its a personal preference for me, I know travelers that carry around a small tent and it works out for them. As far as food goes, dumpster diving and "free fooding" (going into a restaurant and telling them youre hungry but have no money) should be fine to sustain you. I would also look into getting food stamps, though I'm from Ohio and tried to get them there and it was a pain in the ass.

The Dumpster diving bit and "Free fooding" is an obvious solution for food, as for shelter... I'd rather have a popup tent that's light, and doesn't require more than 5 minuets to set up, and I have one in mind, but it's gonna cost me the rest of my funds, and I don't have anything to wash or store clothes in yet, either. I was gonna get one of those 30L waterproof bags so that I could throw in some soap and shake it around to do laundry whenever I find a stream.

I also need a small foldable shovel, so that I can make Dakota Fire holes so I'm not discovered, don't need any unnecessary attention. Also, I have nothing to split or cut wood with, so I'm still quite unprepared.
