Tarkington Prarie, Texas There's not really a "town" -- it's just a rough community of country homes. The nearest town is Cleveland, TX. These photos are mostly of my parents house where I grew up. The reason there's almost always dogs in the pictures is because you can't go out taking pictures of the old place without being followed!
A walk in the woods
My Dad is a pilot. This is his plane. The landing strip is in the front yard.
When us children grew up, Dad got dogs.
He dosen't miss us much.
We have hurricanes sometimes.
Everyone helped with the cleanup.
Yes. It's Texas.
We found plenty of ways to pass the time. Internet didn't arrive there until 2006.
Cool thread. I am upstate NY, Rochester NY - but grew up about 30 minutes from here in Macedon/Palmyra NY - and here is a big thing that dominated our area was the Erie Canal. What is really pretty too is when the Erie canal connects with the Genesee River (hense Genesse Beer). Locks are pretty cool btw. Get up about 55 miles from here on the canal trail and you get into Lockport NY - there are a series of 5 visible locks in a row.
