I'm working on getting the good'ol yota highway worthy, then I'm headed to ride NYC and other metro areas around the country wile they are almost vacant of traffic and people. I really wish I would have done this a little earlier, but I literality 'just' got the stimulus and unemployment (1099/gigworker).
Im gonna take my track bike with me and just have fun seeing cities as most never have. I'd like to stop and see friends along the way (from a safe distance) and I do realize I'm putting my life on the line, but I already keep to myself, avoiding the public, as is, so I think i'll be ok.
not looking for any flack or praise, but rather the skinny on places to park as so to avoid towing or 5 0. Also places to really avoid, but not because of covid directly.
and as always, any food help is greatly appreciated.

Im gonna roll with the gopro and do some filming, so if any of y'all are home and wanna ride, hit me up and we'll do a hotline type thing in your hood. if anyone is bored and wants to help video edit (I'm not very tech savvy ), that would be rad af to do a collab.

hope all y'all are doing well in whatever space you're in during this pandemic. we'll get thought this, not all of us, but most, will get thought this.

If you have a little extra money left over, since you're gonna be filming it with a gopro already, you should think about live streaming it. You'd need a couple charge banks and cell service. Was watching a guy on TwitchTV hitchhiking through Europe before the pandemic happened, he has a pretty popular channel and I'm sure a bunch of people from StP would love to watch as well.

I’m in the same boat. Just got my $1200, and nearly $1k per week (!!!) in unemployment. My fear is catching the virus and being hundreds of miles from home.

I thought the max in Cali was under 500 per week? Unless they’ve temporarily raised it due to this virus, but really, how likely is it that Cali would ever do that?

Well, I Googled it, the max as of Jan 1 2020 is 1300.00. I should un-retire and ask for a lay-off!

The max is $450/week, but the Feds are kicking in an additional $600/week until August.

What would I need in order to do that?

if you have one of the newer gopros, it supports streaming out of the box, you just gotta hook it up to your cell phone (via wifi). it's gonna eat up your data plan though.

sorry if this is an obvious suggestion, but have you tried freecampsites.net? lots of great suggestions on safe places to park, some of which are in super beautiful areas.

In pretty good at finding spots to stop, but riding cities like nyc is a bit different.
Also if anyone is home and could let me power up my batteries and maybe take a day off, that would be awesome.
I am not gonna ask for shelter, I don’t wanna give or catch covid from asymptomatic individuals, but parking outside and using the hose and power would be greatly appreciated

these are some picks fromThe City. The video is Park Avenue West. It was mind boggling to ride though NYC and not have to only watch for cars

I am thinking of bike touring myself.I've always rode bicycles as I get burnt out on driving and fixing it.I was just wondering what do you do if your out in the open and lightning starts hitting close? When I lived in Indiana I would bike to the closest town.It was a hour and a half one way.But whenever I would make a trip I would check the weather.I haven't got caught out in a storm with lighting. But have got back to the little town as the Tornado siren starting going off and I was 30 minutes out.I had to have been hitting 35 mph.I made it home but as soon as I did, shit hit the fan. This is the shit that has me worried in touring. Note: I have been caught in rain plenty of times with lighting.Just not out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to hide under but trees.

just keep an eye out for weather patterns via the Internet. Alternatively, you ride long enough you should get good at weather predictions. As for a tornado... well one never had to deal with that and most places where tornadoes hit, someone lives close enough that you can ask for help to temporarily shelter.
