Leaving Slab City

My biggest complaint is that is so trashed. More trash than people.

I don't plan on being back next year, but I hope to have things together to return in 2024. In the meantime, I hope they get their shit together. Not just the trash, but also making more welcoming places for snowbirds.

I got a cold while I was in Slabs, so I haven't been moving around much. Here's some of what I've seen.

Went out to eat with my boat, and went to The Getty. I don't care about European art, but it's cool for people who do. The food is overpriced and bland, but it's how they keep the lights on. Also overpriced parking, and gift shop. Admission is free, but everything else isn't.

I bought a vape on the last full day they are legal to sale in California.

Someone who shall remain unnamed to try to start a rumor that I had been hitting dogs with a stick at the ponderosa.

When I defended myself, I was unfortunately confronted with people that didn't care about my side of the story and even tried to discourage me from telling my side of the story that automatically took that person's side.

I talked to that person's Camp leader and someone directly affiliated with the ponderosa and left it at that. A few days later, that person got into a very violent altercation with another slabber and allegedly bit off a piece of that person's ear.

I went on to avoid the places where the people that were supportive of that person frequent, but I definitely had is "this your king? This your hill? 😆" energy.

Even though the event is over It's never gonna not be fucked up that people took that person's side without caring about my side, and someone even went out of their way to try to tell me that I shouldn't defend myself, because I'm new to slabs.

People who say that they come to slabs because they don't like on the grid societal expectations but then bring the systemic and institutional shit and with them, and enforce it. It's not hard for them to guess that they're on my shit list.

I got COVID yesterday. I've had a headache, and my head feels fuzzy, with a pressure going through it, that is effecting some of my thinking or my thinking speed or something.

Now that I have COVID, I can speak on it. Stop calling COVID the flu. The flu never made my head feel weird and slowed down my thinking. The flu has made me too tired to think, but never affected my thinking. COVID brain is real, and some people are getting long term/ permanently damaged from it. The flu doesn't give you brain damage!

I have to take a big detour on my trip due to the weather in the bay area. I'm back in Arizona and I'm going to go around the rest of California to avoid it all together.

Arizona, where the bike shops have bikes! That's not a thing in minnesota. A lot of the bike manufacturers and shippers are in the South so they prioritize other Southern states.

I've been staying in Crossroads Rescue Mission in Yuma Arizona and they have a lot of issues. The one most pressing right now is that yesterday the staff went into someone's person took something out without the client's permission or supervision. They went on to put a client's medication into a different bottle and then throw the original bottle away. They were trying to make it look like she had a controlled substance in a different bottle, but they knew that she already had another bottle.

The things that go on in these shelters are wild, but I actually like people and I want to meet them. Shelters are the best places to meet people and get advice on how the local system works. I also like being one more person that comes to the shelter that isn't beaten down and dependent, and will report them to the city when they fuck up. A lot of times, shelters don't get reported for this kind of stuff because of the dependence on the population and the fear of retaliation. I don't have to worry about that, so I use it to my advantage.

I'm back in lovely tucson! I'm so happy to be back! This place feels like home!

I'm apartment sitting for an acquaintance, so I am set for about a month and a half.

I'm still thinking about it, but I'm leaning more towards canceling going to Washington and oregon. I might figure out a way to get from Arizona to Oakland before going back to minnesota. I really want to go to oakland.

At first I wanted to go to be around more black people, but there is a high population of black people in arizona. But I haven't been around any West Coast negroes, so I got to go check it out!

After chilling in Tucson for a while, I'm finally on my way to Oakland if all goes well! And then from Oakland either back to Flagstaff and then up to Minnesota or straight from Oakland back to Minneapolis!

I haven't been posting since I've been sitting in one place for a while. Of course, I've been doing stuff, but I figure it's not interesting if I'm not traveling.

There are no restrooms in the big ass transit building and the cops love to harass the homeless, as usual. Colorado loves to shit on people that have already been shit on. They tried to ban feeding people in parks and shit.

There are bathrooms at Union station. They're at both ends. The one set is down in the bus round, just past the security kiosk, behind the escalators. Those ones are usually out of service.

If you go to the other end and up the escalators and outside. The Amtrack station has some bathrooms that are usually functional.

That's not where the police and security were telling the people to go. They told them that they had to go upstairs to a cafe and they would have to buy something to use the restroom there.

And they couldn't even tell the truth about that. The restroom area is a shared area across the building so they'll just let you use the restroom, without buying anything because they aren't responsible for it.
