Landed in Tucson last night, and someone was so kind to rent a hotel room for me for the night!

The mornings here are beautiful!

Had my first run in with a homebum. Ask me for cigarette money with a lot of words and talked over me as a I tried to politely decline.

Walked from the cheap hotel to the downtown library!

Tucson Arizona public transportation / suntran is currently free and is projected to be free for two more years due to funding on current projects!

Hey lovely gang, Jason G have me some advice that I slept on, and I have decided I won't be coming to Slabs this round, due to unstable income. I have money coming in until December 25th, and the idea was to stay in Slab for most of winter, past that point. If unstable income would be too risky for me to stay in Slabs it's best I don't come out. Maybe next time. Again, I want to thank the people that are decent and helpful in the space. Y'all make Slabs a desert 🏜️ 🌹 rose! Trolls can fuck off.​

I JUST GOT SMACKED IN THE FACE BY A HOMEBUMS BLANKET AS HE WAS GETTING OFF THE BUS! Fortunately, I had on a hat, my glasses, and a mask - so there was minimal contact with my skin or fluid/ mucus stuff. These shelters need to do better. The whole system needs to do better!

For the record, there are a lot of radical contacts in Tucson there are not listed in Slingshot.

Xerocraft, Splinter Collective, etc.

I started with the radical contacts list on slingshot, and found my way into other radical spaces. So I'm definitely going to suggest using it as a starter, but not as a bible.

Also the sex workers out here have a strong community and they are fucking epic. Everyone that tells me since I've been here has been a sex worker.

Defund the police. Fund communities. Fund sex worker.

I already knew what the soup kitchen was. A lot of people were readily available to talk about that, and there are efforts to make a new soup kitchen. But, I found out what Lows was... And, there's not as much energy around that. I don't know what happened to Lows. What I learned is that it was a safer space for snowbirds to congregate. The handlebar closing and Lows closing were two big hits to the Slabs tourism.

But, I see why. I've been out here for some weeks and I honestly wouldn't suggest somebody come out here for more than a few days knowing that this place used to be much better for seasonal and short-term visitors. Come see it, talk to some people, go to a few events, and then bounce.
