Settled down for winter in KC but since the weather's been warming up here my cousin and I decided to do a short hop to a rural Kansas town to visit and crash with a friend. We set out late at night on a grainer and got off in Herington, KS during the CC to grab beer and a bite to eat.
Ended up at this half-diner-half-bowling alley place. We caught a lot of looks as the only people with packs as well as being the only customers under 60. The lady who owned the place ended up being really kind, however, as she said we could sleep and charge our shit in the bowling alley. We did so then went back to the yard to wait. Our train wouldn't come until the next day so we ended up camping out under an abandoned, 30's era rail bridge since the weather was nice that night.
Not the flashiest or most intense train hopping story here, but how often do you get an entire bowling alley to yourself while traveling?
