I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but there's a pretty famous squat in Paris that has a huge metal sculpture face on the front of the building. You can probably google it or ask around in the city, it's a really strange building so I'm sure people in the area would know what you're talking about. It's about a 20-30 min walk from the notre dame cathedral on the north side of the sine river.

ps- fuck Paris. That city is hell. Enjoy france, but my best advice for visiting Paris would be to get the hell out ASAP. Try Breizh, its fucking great, and only a day hitching from paris.

i second fuck paris. you can hardly do anything without money

but just in case. there is an artist squat on rue de menilmontant, they have concerts and bar sometimes, if you talk to them maybe you can crash there who knows. i´ve also seen warehouses squatted by artists around gambetta, but with a small amount of people living there, all devoted to personal and community projects, the one i visited was friendly but it wasn´t a place i felt like asking to stay just because it was a squat

honestly the best place in paris to crash is the airport. if you can figure out which trains to take from which stations, it´s literally: walk through open gates, get onto the train with no one watching, get to the airport, not a soul notices you, stake out a spot, relax, it´s like a fucking hotel. we cooked a chicken outside in a big pot on a gas stove, spread out our sleeping bags and stayed "in bed" until like one pm without anyone saying anything. i have seen a homeless couple with a dog escorted to another area though so if you want to stay where it´s warm, try to look innocuous and seem as if you might take a flight the next day because i don´t think security will approach you unless they´re certain you´re not a paying traveller.

did you stay at shakespeare and co? i thought that was a policy of the previous owner + you had to be writing a book?

also - the airport - what terminal were you eating at together? sounds fun. we tried to share with an old guy who was there, he was watching us cook really hungrily then when we offered him he declined. he only accepted after the chicken was gone and there was just bread left, i felt so bad. he had a lot of tics and talked to himself, was seeing things that weren´t there, at least he knew he had a safe place and the guards were nice to him.

How do you get over seas on the cheap? I actually have 60,000 sky miles. I guess I could fly to jfk and buy a ticket out from there?

Orrrr you could take the 'Hound (don't know where you're at), hitchhike, train hop, ride share, whatever whatever whatever to JFK (from my lookin's, I think Newark, NJ is actually cheaper sometimes) - do it up frreee, or as close as possible, then use them sky miles to get to Yurop for cheap... Not sure if there's a specification on using them internationally, though?
