An interesting article talking about big picture ideas when it comes to the small tools that are often mentioned on this site. Since it's from 2021 I'll let the title slide - I think they were trying to scrape clicks with the toxic masculinity hashtag more than they were trying to make that point so try not to focus too much on the title for our little discussion.
We're always talking about saving weight on gear and I think talking about these items beyond their situational value is important. There's a nice point made about focusing on mutual aid rather than having the latest gadget, though I feel personally attacked with the line "a tactical ax that was made in China and shipped halfway around the world just to shatter the first time someone tried to split firewood with it isn’t going to help us" because I have an AMAZING tactical axe from China that turns into a shovel among other things.

The Toxic Masculinity of Tactical Survival Gear
We don’t need paracord-wrapped hatchets and trenching tools to survive in the wilderness
