Ok, it's time. i've saved a good chunk of change, i've taken a few lessons, i'm ready to get a boat. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about some good spots on the east coast/gulf where i can spend the winter improving my skills somewhere with generally easy waters and lowish traffic, i...

    Jobs on tall-ships available

Working on a tall ship is a blast, and a great way to learn for free. Be advised you will have to pass a drug test! The USCG randomly drug tests all crew responsible for transporting humans over the water, so most companies will make you pass one just to get in the door.

Stuck in place, how do you deal with the itch?

So this and last year I decided to settle down a bit, work up some coin. Right now I'm living in a sweet cabin on the beach, making good money at a job I like, living with my partner who I love. But man, sometimes, at night, or in the mornings, I just want to rush out the door with a day pack...

How do you afford gas when living in a van?

Cannot stress drive slowly enough. But not too slow! Most vehicles have a "sweet spot" between 50 and 60 mph, above 60 or so your efficiency drops fast

car insurance??? (how do I do this?)

some rubbertramp friends of mine use https://www.thegeneral.com/ seems to work out ok and fairly cheap for them. i think the hard part is figuring out *where* to insure your car (probably best if it's somewhere you have history of residency?) i don't know too much beyond that though.

    Occult on the road

i carry a few things with me. i've never been to rainbow, but i have a lot of friends who have. First go at my lust, packing advice?

lighter is always better. pack light stuff towards the bottom/outside (away from your back) and the heavy stuff towards the top/closer to your back/shoulders. Distributing the weight like this will make it a lot easier on your body because if the heavy stuff is at the bottom instead of resting...

    getting clean(ish) without a shower

wet wipes are great to just hit your pits, feet, sexy parts, but they're really a bandaid and definitely a little heavy if you're on foot. it might be worth it to get a membership at some national gym chain, you can shower there, they usually have wifi, gives you something to do if you are...

where do you store stuff when you're not housed up?

i've seen people build a platform in the back of their van, with about 10-12 inches of space for storage underneath, and bedspace on top. also, hooks and boxes help. most importantly keep everything organized and it will take up less space
