    Greetings, STP.

That mustache is epic. It eclipses even the gorgeous mountains with it's majesty.

    Operation Desert Lizard

Well my $450 S10 broke down somewhere near Cincinatti. I spent a night in the city and was lucky enough to find some kids heading to SoCal and convinced them to take my first shipment of books to Slab. Cornelius: if you see this be on the lookout for a guy named Dave traveling with two females...

Would anyone be interested in volunteering for a free place to stay in New Orleans?

I'll make sure there are burritos in the cooler.

Would anyone be interested in volunteering for a free place to stay in New Orleans?

Once I complete Operation Desert Lizard and deliver these books and pick people up for the Jambo I can head to NOLO and help with construction. I have lots of tools. In fact I am a tool. But I do have experience pouring concrete and building Earth Ships.

    Operation Desert Lizard

I'm heading to Slab to donate a fuck ton of books that I have picked up from library donations and sales. I'm hitching from Toledo all the way down to Slab. I have a duffel bag filled with various books in addition to my normal traveling gear. Operation Desert Lizard's primary objective is...

Divorced, Now Homeless. Time to Catch Out

I've found that trains, while exhilarating and cool, aren't worth the effort a lot of the times these days. Getting a fine or thrown in country for a few days by the rent-a-cops sucks hard. I've found hitching a lot more fulfilling. You meet really interesting people. Just my 2 cents though...

    Project Freeride

I've pitched the idea to a few people who have the resources to make this a reality. They seem impressed with the idea. I will be meeting with them further over the next few days. I have no set time table but this could be a reality in as little as a month or two. I will be on the road by August...

    Project Freeride

This is an idea I've been considering for awhile but I think I am finally almost in a position to execute it. I want to purchase a vehicle, probably a used conversion van for now, and dedicate it to picking up hitchhikers and other nomads. The project has a few goals. First is getting people...

    Staying safe?

Criminals look for soft targets. If you walk around staring at the ground, shoulders slumped or are clearly not paying attention to your surroundings you're at a higher chance of getting jacked. Likewise, if you are female you are more likely to get jacked. If you are not paying attention to...

What are the legal pitfalls of building a homestead?

I know a guy that bought 3 or 4 acres in rural Oregon, cleared it and began setting up huts and stuff. He would live in one hut, usually wattle and daub with a roof made out of leaves or some such while working on another hut. As the other hut drew close to being ready he would demolish the...

    Tribulation Preperation

I used to be a pretty hardcore III%er / militia type. A lot of that time was spent learning how to survive in the woods. It's a lot more difficult than people think. It's possible to do it alone, but not forever. You will need other people at some point. Period. Second skills always trump gear...

finding a decent cheap hd camera

Thanks to all of you. Mostly these are for my own enjoyment or to send to family. I love to see exotic places, or just new places, but eventually I run out of brain-room and it's nice to have it on a micro sd or a hard drive somewhere. Appreciate the tips.

finding a decent cheap hd camera

Aside from the usual places like Craigslist, eBay and Amazon does anyone have any advice for sourcing a cheap HD camera? I love to take video of the places I visit for posterity but given my lifestyle my equipment invariably ends up broken, stolen or both.

    Hello from Toledo, OH

Thanks for the welcome. The only thing I want right now is a new bike but if it doesn't pan out I'm sure I'll be shown another path. I've found since letting go and swearing off money that things just sort of fall into my lap when they are needed. Your inquiry is well received though. If more...

I've met a lot of 'interesting' people on the road, but nothing quite like that.

    Hello from Toledo, OH

Yeah I've always had to ditch my bike when I make a big move like coast-to-coast but it's usually cool, there's always another traveler that needs some wheels. This time, being that it's Toledo, someone just helped themselves to my bike over the winter. But that's cool too. The universe provides.

    Hello from Toledo, OH

Hello from Toledo, OH. I'm Peter. I'm 31 years old. My primary interests are in sustainable living, eco activism and zero currency economies. I'm about to hit the road south, west or southwest now that it's warm enough to travel from this area. I'll probably be hitching or biking if I can...
