I definitely agree indisputable with your friends viewpoint on this, it's like when you're traveling people tend to have a certain kind of attraction to you, also I think you're having feeling of adventure, discovery and passion. And that this in relation comes back as generosity, somehow people would like you to have a glimpse of their life so that you'll bring their generosity with you in your backpack wherever you'll go. It's kind of their way to travel, seeing you'll most likely only meet them once, it's also a time for many where they open up and discuss very personal and affectionate parts of their own life, and also of yours. Usually its some very sweet and endearing encounters with a very broad spectrum of people, so that afterwards you'll know that there's good people in all neighborhoods.

Surely you're going to meet a lot of people on your way, and I sincerely hope for you that you take people advices into account, to travel with people who will be good and kind towards you. I've been wanting to ask you how old you are, but it doesn't really matter, you just look so young and in ways innocent. I'm wandering off a bit, but yeah getting that wind in your hair standing at the side of some road with your thumb flying high is definitely going to help you get out of that fear of you wasting your youthhood. ;)

That's good to know. Most people here at home mention all the bad people I'm likely to encounter out there but never the good people. Overall I'm super excited and I definitely have taken everyone's advice into account, you've all been very helpful. Was not expecting this much love haha :) And I'm 21 ;)

My personal advice:
If you want to see most or all of the US, go North during the summer and South during the winter. Coming from someone who does live in the North there is nothing pleasant about our winters.
Also, have you seen the little mini tasers? You can get some that come with flashlights, they're only about twenty bucks or so and they can drop a man (Or woman) to the ground if he/she gets creepy with you.

You look and seem like a pretty awesome lady. If you're in the Oregon area don't be afraid to hit any of the Oregonians on this site up, including me. Oregon is just a big wanna-be Canada with some of the friendliest people I've ever met.

I plan on traveling through the Pacific Northwest this summer actually, I've always wanted to experience that. So I'll definitely be passing through Oregon, are you in Portland?
I can't believe I never thought about getting a mini taser, usually knives and mace just comes to mind. That's an awesome idea, I'll look into that!

And so do you. Hopefully we can meet up or something when I make it to Oregon! Thank you :)

I'm going to be in Portland until about mid-to-late August. I could definitely show you around Oregon, it's a fucking gorgeous state. We have an entire forest in the coastal range that is filled to the brim with old rail lines that went out of commission a few years back, so you can walk over these massive trestles and do all sorts of crazy stuff.

If you get a taser you might want to take a look at this map of where they are and are not legal. You should be fine on the West Coast though.

I bought my ex one of these, very cheap like 20 bucks. 250 thousand volts and has a flashlight built in. Has a retractable wall plug for charging

Hey glowbug!

I hope you have a seriously awesome trip, I'm a lady around the same age as you and hitchhiked Seattle to LA with my friend who's also a lady. The road ended up being quite sustainable for us as a lot of our rides gave us cash (you'd be surprised - we had gifts up to $40), bought us a meal, or at least smoked us out.

Can't wait to hear your updates :)
