hay folks just wanted to intro myself....am a current squatter in the 'Mish' (mission district of Frisco) in a small carriage house (read almost-shack) that knock on wood has been a nearly 5 year run and hopefully a bit longer. I've migrated by foot, thumb, rail, jet-bus-train across the 48, canada, Mex, central Am, north of europe, and am still hitten the trails when I can. My main addictions are writing pomes, novels, short fic, etc. Strangly tho have journalled a bit, I'm not huge on travel writing, tho read it occasionally.

Was an active member in HOMES NOT JAILS until we got basically gentrified out of the city. Past members are scattered pretty much all over the place. I still occasionally open places for folks in need of housing. A current member on this site, who shall remain anonymous, trained me in tactics of researching, locating, and ingressing squats. I owe much to him and a couple others, who shall also remain anonymous, until I at least get their ok. Because they deserve squatter community praise and paid for other folks housing by many hours of late nite shennanigans and "loud occupy" protest squat ops. Which meant jails time for several in that group. So cheers fellow flat bar wielders!

I used to volunteer with Homes Not Jails, or at least a very similar group, at one point in Oakland. I really loved the work we did. Right on for continuing it in some form.

Welcome and awesome to hear you story! Haha I just asked a friend (who's a seasoned squatta that you might know::cat::) about the status of homes not jail. Sucks to hear the gentrification plague is still spreading. I'm planning a trip to Oakland soon and I'd love to with other radical squatters if any are around.

Great intro! It's been kinda high on my list of goals to interview some HNJ folks, either for our youtube channel or for the podcast (coming soon). Would you be interested in coming on and answering some questions sometime?

Ya so also a bro of mine who intro'd me to this site is THE ONE you need to speak with as well. Unfortunatly I can't find him on the site, Im new to it but also he might be using a diff handle. Just got his new cell # so I'll hit him up if yre interested. I'm down with anything that spreads info on squatting and fightin against the commodification of our human right, to shelter. Much thanks for the support!

fuck yeah man, that's why we're doing the show, to promote projects like that to more people in general, and basically show others what's possible.... :)

so yeah, get a hold of them or have them contact me, and let's make it happen :)

Hey, Matt. We met at the jamboree in 2016. I was in HNJ in 2012, around the same time as these other 3 folks. I'd be happy to do an interview with you about it if you're interested in writing about the group. I could call a few other old friends and see if they would also. We talk about writing a book about our experiences a lot but nobody has done it so far.
