Just never made an account. Cool community though, so here I am.

I'm a good ole Texas boy who got too deep into anarcho-communism which led to him dropping out of college to be a dirt bag. Been vagabonding for like two years or something. Been in the mindset for far longer. First year was on and off with hitchhiking being my introduction. Second year was living out of my prius and backpacking through Asia.

Really looking to long-term squat some place in the DFW area soon, which is what brought me back to these forums. Also been thinking about just renting a house and then airbnb-ing it out while I live in the backyard and inside the house when available. Soooo, if y'all got any links to resources or have any advice/tips yourself, lemme know.

Anyways, I know y'all don't really give a fuck and neither do I, but glad to be here.

That is like the creepiest title ever.. but hey, welcome!

That airbnb thing sounds brilliant. I may consider doing something like that myself. I was considering buying property and renting it out but it might be hard to get away from it if the tenants needed me to check on the house for some issue, you know.

Feel free to DM me, I have some ideas on housing/renting, etc.

Hey, man, just noticed your profile pic and the Thai jumped out at me. Thailand has to be one of my favorite places on the planet. Never got as far north as Chang Mai, though. Ayutthaya was about as far north as I got. Why are you coming back to the US? If you've learned enough of the language, you probably can hang in TH for a while.

Oh man, Chiang Mai is great. Nice mix of modernity and dirtiness. Incredibly cheap too, as is most of Asia. I had an apartment in the "hip" part of Chiang Mai for $80/month and I ate out for like $4/meal. If you eat local cuisine, you can do $1/meal. You prolly already know that though.

Well, the plan was the set up base in Chiang Mai, but after a few months in Asia you really start to miss home. I did, at least. I love Chiang Mai and all of Asia SO MUCH, but the US is my home, man.

I completely understand. I had the same thing happen in Haiti too. Was in country long enough that I was missing the conveniences of home, that and I got wicked eczema on my hands. The rash cleared up pretty much as soon as I got into dry air, that was probably the most frustrating. Being away from home is hard especially when you don't speak the local language. At least you can say that you've experienced something most people never will.
