I'm just curious as to what kind of bikes you are all riding around. Even if you're not touring let's see some bikes!

Here's mine, a Miyata 5 speed road bike. It works awesome for deliveries. Love the front and back racks. Was thinking of getting panniers but I don't really need them.

Here's my roadie - she's seen many a touring mile and has never failed me - had her out a bit this year but not for the near miles I've done in previous years. My business has overcome me :( So she is sitting on the trainer to use but I'm thinking of selling this one off and buying new in the Spring --- looking for inspiration I guess. She comes with back rack, trunk, back panniers and full lights front and back. Cool ass bike I've traveled with. Have many miles on her!

These are my other mtb bikes that I have not touched in a year <cry> Blue specialized is my main commuter - I've rebuilt this one several times - snow and water take tolls on the cables, pads and everything else underneath the bike. The Giant is my off road playtoy. It's a dual suspension with disc brakes and those brakes give me issues.

In shop for repairs/upgrades I could not do. And when I had some more spending cash lol. I run maxxis tires now.

Used to have this one - which I WON from a Newport cigarette company of all things - worth then probably $650 plus. It was a folding bike that accompanied the Hummer Sport edition vehicle when they came out. Bike was originally designed for the air force in desert storm. It's a folder bike - pretty cool - but man alive it was HEAVY - it was a tank - but so awesome when I was out at night riding with my wild crew (Tour de Bar - sometimes 30 wild mtb people riding with full lights at 10 at night in the city - down stairs, up parking garages, accidents --- lots) Bike was stolen by gang of bike thieves who were working the area. Eff you who ever got this bike.

@Tude Its too bad that your Montague never surfaced. I remember seeing one in your neighborhood & thinking there is no way that bike thieves are that brazen to lock it outside just 2-3 streets away from your place.

Here is my daily beater. No brakes or gears currently, as I havent done a bit of maintenance since December. The chain should have broke by now and every 3rd peddle, in have to kick the chain backwards to unstick it. This sucker has been on a few trains and toured my across southern New Mexico. I hitchhiked to Denver to buy it last year at a very good price. Cant wait to get a new one in a couple weeks.

Its last big journey was another ride/hitchhike to Denver in April, here it is waiting out snow in a home depot shed.

I just dropped off my bike to get tuned up in Ellensburg today. It's a Shogun 500 from the early 90's I think, and I bought it on CL in Olympia, WA for $110. It came with racks and even front panniers and was in excellent shape. I've put it through some hell over the past 3 years, so i figured its time to put some serious money into it before going on this bike tour. New chain, tires, cables, brakes, the whole chebang. Cost me 215 bucks but I figure it'll be worth it if I'm going to spend the next 2 months on it (possibly more if this trip goes well).

I'll take a pic with my phone and post it here when I get it back this Wednesday!

I got this trusty steed on Gumtree (Australian CL) when I arrived here about a month ago. Works perfectly besides the gears skipping sometimes. Been cruising around the city a lot and now planning to do a bit of touring and also checking out some paths and rail trails.

Got the bike, lights, a lock, and 2 helmets for 140AUD, which is like 110USD. Couldn't beat that!! It's the law here to wear a helmet which is a fantastic one especially for my accident-prone ass.

I just got a 27 speed Bike Friday New World Traveler. I've only had a chance to ride it around town on short trips so far, but I really like it; didn't take long to get used to at all. I've since removed the brand stickers, and chose the orange color to deter thieves (hoping), and increase visibility.

Update, here's the newest addition to my family of two-wheeled beauties:
IMG_2726.JPG

Such a great bike, in great shape and she's a fantastic climber. I'd been parking one of my other bikes next to her at my Uni for months and months, she was just sitting there covered in cobwebs and untouched, so I left a note and rescued her!

Definitely going to do some touring on her, not sure to where, but definitely somewhere.

So was this a note asking if the bike belonged to somebody?

Nice bike, btw.

Yeah, something like "Dear bike owner, I rescued your bike, if you've come back to claim it, contact me at xxxxxxx".

Bike squatting.

I used to live in a college town. One where kids would ride drunk and not remember where they parked. A town where some kids would steal a bike for an "A to B" ride. I saw these bikes and just figured they were hot. You may not have stolen that bike, but if the owner catches up with it...
