Hey folks! It's finally here! I've published my first book,
The Anarchist's Guide to Travel - A manual for future hitchhikers, hobos, and other misfit wanderers. This is a how-2 book for those interested in learning more about underground travel and how to prepare for their first travel adventure. This book will answer most 'beginner' questions we get on StP, and covers multiple modes of underground travel, including hitchhiking, train hopping, sailing, bike touring, living in a vehicle, etc. How to survive on the road, find places to sleep, how not to starve, find work, tips specific to LGBT folks, and all kinds of interesting and educational information. Even if you're not new to living a nomadic lifestyle, it's likely this book will still have a few tips you haven't thought of. The book spans 243 pages, with almost all the illustrations inside done by our own
@awkwardshelby (they also designed the cover)! Here are a few pictures of the inside to give you a better idea of what you're getting (click on the thumbnails below):
From the Amazon description / back cover:
Ever dream of dropping everything to adopt a minimalist lifestyle and explore the world -- but didn't know where to start? This how-to book will show you how to join the traveler underground; a world of hitchhikers, hobos, migrant punks, and other misfit travelers that don't fit into the standard mold. In these pages, you'll find out how to survive on next to nothing by getting rid of rent and other expenses, resources for finding seasonal work, and advice on saving enough money to last through your next leg of travel. It continues with a basic guide to almost every style of underground travel including hitchhiking, train hopping, van-dwelling, bike touring, and sailing. You'll even find a few tips for surviving mainstream forms of travel like charter buses and airplanes. Each chapter includes a list of books, websites, and other resources to expand your knowledge beyond the basics. If you've ever wanted to join a world of wanderlusters like yourself, this guide is the perfect way to drop out, work less, and experience the world around you from a completely different perspective.
You can purchase the book in both print and kindle formats here:
If you do purchase the book from Amazon and can take the time to
write an honest review, I'd sure appreciate it! I will be releasing a DRM-Free epub format of the ebook available for purchase here on StP as well. Thank you all for your support of StP, myself, and this book over the past two years of it's production! I'm very excited to finally have this project finished, and I'm looking forward to receiving your input, opinions and reviews! If you can tell your friends, family, or anyone you think might find this book useful, please do! I need all of your help in promoting this book to those who could use the information.
Of course, if anyone has any questions, comments, etc, feel free to post them in this thread and I'll address them as soon as I can. Thanks!
