Xylem is a type of material in wood that trees use to filter out tiny air bubbles or whatever out of them. It is also an effective and reliable way to filter water.
Really simple-
Just cut yourself a thick branch, skin the bark and cut a sizable cylinder of wood that will be short enough for the water to go through. make sure the wood you have is not to thick and contains enough spongey xylem, then put it in a bottle- kinda like a cork and filter your water through it.
It gets rid of around 90% of bacteria, its good for personal use.
The only downside is when you have water tainted with chemicals- im not sure how effective Xylem is against that.

Look it up online if you have the time. i almost feel like someone may have posted this before and if they have, go ahead and delete this- just tell me in advance i suppose.
