Mine is the amanita muscaria "fly agaric" apparently if you eat it, you can talk to God or something... never managed to find any of these shrooms but it wouldn't be the first time I met the big man upstairs due to fungal related activities.....
Old thread, but this is quick information on fly agarics that should be more accessible on the Internet:

  • Fly agaric causes depersonalization and either makes you feel really energized, or sedated. Instead of experiencing hallucinations while awake, visualizations during dream-state (while sleeping) can become vivid and extreme.
  • Know the risks of not preparing fly agaric properly. Symptoms of fly agaric poisoning include violent abdominal pain, vomiting, delirium, and seizures.
  • Fly agaric is made edible by cutting into strips and baking until cracker dry, or smoking for hours over a campfire.
  • After preparation, steeping in tea is the most common method of consumption, but it's decent grilled with onions (taste is subjective).
  • Testing for potency by consuming a small amount first is always a good idea, especially when foraging for shrooms.

For those seeking to experience a spiritual trip/"talk to God", psilocybin will help you achieve what you seek, and has a much lower safety risk!

My favorite mycopeiac is probably the Humongous Fungus. It's a giant fungus that grows near Por'land which will kill and eat a whole tree at a time, grows over a yojana (about 2.8 mi. I think) in size, and has been alive probably since it evolved, about 2,500 years ago.

Also, every time somebody mentions cordyceps sinensis I've been going on and on about how amazing it is for years and years. I mean, just the sheer possibility its behavior will suggest; how it will kill an insect by manipulating its mind. The thing a cordyceps sinensis colony will do is nearly as or even more intelligent than the prey it can kill, which would be less relevant if it was all part of the same body; in fact it seems so intelligent that it very well could be manipulated by a body of energy emitted from a brain somewhere; pretty much like a spirit. Whether this is so or otherwise, its overall appearance (in fact its behavior too) makes the fabric of space seem to be like a sheet from behind which a larger organism lives, and manipulates the mycelia attached to it from there.

It almost will tell us of the existence of a dimension where spirits live, also to do with it originating in an abovecloud-level forest where the kasmir goat, totemic of the original yogi, god Shiva, also lives, on a sacred mountain said by Hindus to be the connecting point between the lower and upper heavens and our planet.

I really must mention all this a lot.

Amanita muscaria is soo fucking beautiful! And at this time of the year they are everywhere where I live.

If you wanna eat them make sure to dry them as much as possible (preferably in oven at 50 degrees) so most of the toxic ibotenic acid decarboxylate into psychoactive muscimol.
