Old thread, but I'm intrigued. Can you tell us how it worked out OP?

Anyone else undoubtedly checking this out further down the line: The Advisory Service for Squatters has been going on since the 1970s and has a website worth checking out.

Great resource! How recent or regular are publications? Not sure I'm seeing the right dates, but yeah this is fascinating.

It seems like they’ve been going for awhile now and issues aren’t put out too regularly. the most recent one (issue 14) doesn’t seem to load. They got a contact email I see: squatterslap@riseup.net
there is also gool old 56A 56a infoshop – radical social centre, elephant & castle - https://56a.org.uk/
and these are back up as well eroding empire – diy punk and anarchist counter culture in london - https://eroding.org.uk/

I'm also interested, friends have told me it's difficult nowadays in London and have given up/gone elsewhere

London is hard. I have never squatted elsewhere but there are so many things that could go wrong.. my friend opened a building less than a month ago (commercial, empty, 2 years out) and hours later landlords forced him and his group welding crowbars haha. Scary shit.

Happened to us once in a squat in Kentish Town. I happened to be the idiot who opened the door without checking that is was the guy I expected to come back. We got illegally evicted by the owner who pretended he would make a deal the day before.

Bristol was better. ;)

Building rules .. always shout out ‘who is it’ at the top of your lungs and do not open without a reply.
Everybody thinks I’m over the top but without a peephole.. not risking shit.
Hahahah.
