I know San Francisco (allegedly) still has Homes Not Jails, at least in theory; is there anything like this in LA, anything organised that one could join to find a Squat to occupy, maybe the Occupy Movement still, or what? Otherwise it's dangerous to go out on one's own, especially being female and all.

I am a female who's been squatting on a farm for over a year. If you are looking for a viable squat location where you could stay for awhile try unincorporated areas around Barstow, Ca. Newberry Springs, Yermo, Dagget. There are so many anandoned houses and so many people squatting, some for years. Its totally strange considering the perceptions people have about squatters "taking over grandma's house". Here so many people have either died without family or people just abandoned their property.

Well, from way out there, the only way to sustain oneself is if one has the internet set up in the Squat somehow and works "remote" from like anywhere else where there ARE jobs. Which most jobs don't want you doing, being way out in the literal middle of the desert and can't get to the office in-person, that's what the job market FEELS like it's saying, these days. What CAN be done technically, they don't WANNA do. But, so, that's why there's plenty of available places to live way out in the middle of nowhere. No jobs.
