Hello friends,
I plan on hitchhiking through great britain and just recently bought a good camera to have more options with photographing.
Now i'm not sure if i should take the camera with me on my trip.
Obviously it can break or get in contact with dirt, sand, water, etc. which wouldn't be good at all... Especially with the travelling style of backpacking, hitchhiking...
On the other hand i bought it to especially make more pictures of landscapes and the nature, so it would be a shame to not use this option. Another disadvantage is its weight: About 1,5kg (3.3 pounds).

So: What should I do? Does anyone have experience or an idea and therefore a tip?

Even if you can't say much about it, but have a tendency, you are welcome to take part in the survey
Thanks :)

It's a bad idea to take anything on a long term travel itinerary that you can't afford to lose or break. That said, it's your journey, and only you know what matters enough to you that it's worth potentially paying that price. I carry a computer around. Some people carry musical instruments. Some carry a beloved piece of jewelry or item of clothing. Yes, there is a risk nice things will get stolen, crushed, soaked, busted... but if you got a bunch of pleasure out of it along the way then who cares? Obviously it's not worth bringing if you aren't going to use it regularly or if it's not sparking joy, but if photography is your thing, and capturing moments on a high quality lens makes your day, then carrying around that extra bit of kit is probably worth it to you. Might not be to someone else. Just be careful who you share it with, not everybody is respectful of other people's treasures.
