political protests/radical conferences going on in europe right now? hitch to athens?

im here till september. hearing about all the occupy oakland and occupy sf things going on in california with my friends makes me wonder if now was really the best time to come here when theres so much going on there.

now i hear all about the olympia anarchist conference and the g8/g20 suummit happening in chicago that ill be missing.
and i feel like a useless, decadent and guilty pile of shit for hanging out in ireland, playing music all day.

i was thinking of heading to athens after i get to france at the end of march. anyone down to hitch there?

and does anyone know of anything specific going on anytime soon over on this side of the atlantic?

The big six energy bash: I dunno if you know but theres a crisis were calling fuel poverty in the UK at the moment, energy companies have increased their tariffs by up to 20%. Someone living in fuel poverty spends more than 15% of their income on staying warm. Anyway theres a mass action down in London against it. its in May:

Defend Huntington Lane was the biggest protest site in the UK and they squatted protected woodland for over a year to stop UK Coal tearing it down. I spent a few weeks down there in Feb last year. Last post on their site dates from August sayin eviction is imminent. Possible been evicted, maybe not thought, they had some good defenses. http://defendhuntingtonlane.wordpress.com/
