Dollar general stores, walmart, just about all retailers that sell prepaid phones. You just enter the info on the prepaid card. Boost mobile phones gives u options... If you get a card less than 50$ it goes by minutes or by the day, $50 card is unlimited for the month...

if you watch, track phone offers a double your minutes phone (i got one, buy 60 minutes for 19.99 and get 120 minutes) it gets great reception, my buddies i-phone will have no bars and i will have full bars. it was 20.00 for phone and charger. if phone is turned off, it holds a charge a month, if left on a charge lasts 5 to 7 days, depending on how much i use it.

You can get them from Walgreens, 7/11 places like that.
I picked up one from Walgreens and got a tracphone voucher book for double minutes. Enter the code when you buy minutes and you get double. You can check online for legit promo codes too sometimes.
$30 gets you about 120 minutes.
Only downside is you have a certain number of service days. Once they run out you lose your minutes. But every time you add minutes to your phone you get something like 90 service days added.

Cheapest price for minutes is $10 for 30 minutes and 30 days (might be online offer only).

And watch it while texting, costs something like 0.10 or 0.20 minutes to send a message and the same to read a received one, and large messages received can come in more that one part.

The best option for prepaid that I've found:

1. Buy a T-mobile prepaid flip phone for $20 at a retailer. This comes with the sim kit.
2. Sign up for T-mobile's prepaid monthly plan of $30 for 1500 talk + text.

This requires you to pay at the beginning of each month to keep your phone number. However, there is no penalty if you fail to pay. Your number simply gets disconnected/recycled after two weeks of nonpayment. 1500 minutes for $30 is not a bad deal for the month and it's likely to last you if you are mindful about when to use your cell.

I've been running around with a trac phones since I started owning a cellphone five years ago. Now they have triple minute phones.

I usually get the 200 minute card for 40$ and look for extra minute codes online, that will last me until the plan runs out which is 3 months on the card

best place to get them are at places like target and wal-mart.

I've been considering going to ST.

Do you use that company? If so, how is the coverage, and is the internet 4G. If it is, does it get throttled after a certain amount of usage in a month?

i use an at&t phone, so i got their at&t sim card. it's the EXACT same service as at&t. reception has been no less than amazing everywhere i've been in the usa with it (which is a LOT of places) and the only place i had issues was in key west (calls were fine, internet was edge speeds on average). i have a 4g phone and as far as i could tell they were 4g speeds in most cities. the data is 'unlimited' which we all know is bullshit... the rumor is they cut you off around 3-4gb. ive never run up more than 3.5gb in a month. it's not a hard limit as far as i can tell.

Interesting. Thanks for the review.

I'm on Verizon with a grandfathered Unlimited Data plan, and my phone is the only internet access I have where I am.

Been known to use 18-20GB in a month, and that was back when I was rocking 3G!

Dude, I just got a $25 smartphone off EBay. It's like 3 years old but it does all kinds of shit. For $10 more you can get a 16 GB SD card and store all kinds of music, movies, and other videos (yeah, porn). But the coolest thing is this: You can get this free app called Text Plus, where you get free minutes to call just for downloading stupid games which you can later delete, or watching videos, or doing surveys. Anyways, the point I'm getting at is, I never paid for service on this phone.... no carrier at all. I can only make calls on it if I'm around wi-fi, but if you're in a town, you can hit up a library or a McDonald's or Starbucks, or anywhere else with free wi-fi, and get and receive calls for FREE. It'll work on any android phone, and there's probably similar apps on other phones. If you go to 4shared you can get the Text Plus Gold version, which doesn't have ads. In fact you can get pretty much any app on there for free. Fuck paying for shit. Hope this helps.

I used to do security at JFS here in Ohio and the safelink guy that came around seemed pretty legit. You don't get many minutes/texts for free, but it's something. I know all the homebums were always telling me they didn't have any minutes left on their "obama phone" when they came in to use ours hahaha
