We'd really like folks to bring out their musical instruments to the Slabs this year, and if we could get any bands to play, that would be great! Does anyone know of music groups that would like to visit the slabs and play during the Jamboree?

We have a tiny stage near the fire pit, which we can use for up to three people, we use it for spoken word jams during the winter season. We also have enough power for a few amps to plug in for a few hours. If anyone has car or boat batteries to donate or borrow to us, we could beef it up. May have a larger stage by the jambo, but a stage isn't really the most important thing when it comes to putting on a show, there's plenty of room to get creative. Maybe we could have an "open mic" jam session at some point, too.

I'm working with Saw Mama to put together a line-up of bands to play this year, it's going to be pretty fuckin legit. If people want to guerrilla perform around the area, that's cool, but if you want to play a set on one of our stages, the deadline to submit your self/group is september 23rd. you can also do some live art, but be sure to contact me with your info and sample work before that deadline.

I'm going to make a flyer for artist submissions tonight so keep an eye out for that.

Here's my performer and volunteer flyer,

flyer2.png
and here's the accompanying descriptive text:

The Library is a safer space, meaning that we do not tolerate oppressive language, actions, othering, or non-consentual aggression. We will have a sober lounge, and inside The Library during the day people will be expected to be at least be somewhat sober and coherent as it is still a public library.
We have camp grounds nearby which will be loosely regulated. We are, however, located in an anarchist squatter town where people can create their own spaces which can vary in safety. Please keep your things secure. Some people are opportunists. If you need help with safe storage, we have limited space which you can talk to me about.

We are located near a human-made canal which is accessable for swimming and bathing. There is also a hotspring about a mile and a half away from the site. We are completely off-grid in the middle of the desert so be sure that you have food to add to our community kitchen, and/or your own supply. We will have drinking water for sale here if you run out or can't haul in your own. Garbage disposal will be a community effort to be mindful of waste. We have an outhouse, but bring your own toilet paper please.

There's a FB version of this flyer that I'm circulating also. Feel free to copy and share.

I am balls deep in the music scene in Portland, OR. Tell me a genre you want and I can bribe people to perform.

ha, well, i guess if i had to pick a genre, maybe old time string band? ragtime? or something similarly gypsyish?
