What up everybody! My name is Christian and I’m entirely new to traveling. Other than a few brief stints of homelessness and hanging out with some cool hobos in my hometown, I have no experience on the road. I’ve always wanted to jet out and see the world. The entire world. I want to see different cultures, I want to taste new foods and learn new songs from places far away. The 9-5 corporatist bullshit that has taken over the lives of human beings is degrading and in my opinion dogshit. Fuck school, fuck being a slave, fuck authority, I want real freedom.

My goals for traveling are to make honest, true friends, create music with fellow musicians, write poetry, learn more about myself and the world I live in, learn more languages, and create a community of freedom loving people just going about this earth doing what we want; cause that’s freedom!

I am a musician, writer, and linguist. I can read, write, speak and understand 5 different languages and feel as though that will be a helpful tool in navigating through the many wild situations I’m sure most travelers have found themselves in.

I’d be willing to travel anywhere in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East, etc. though South Africa and France are the two places I want to see the most.

The way I see it, we’re a blank canvas for the world to paint upon, and I’m ready to see what kind of art it decides to create out of us! Let’s go explore this wild, fascinating planet!

Welcome to the StP community Christian!!! You're in the right place!

I feel you and agree, real freedom!

I would suggest you research the Forums on this site and order Matt Derrick's book: The Anarchist Guide to Travel which can be purchased on StP store. That should be a start for you.

I like your write up and I wish you the best of luck in your future travels and adventure!

Hey! Seems like we have similar interests and backgrounds. I've done a few solo travel trips and also enjoy learning languages... haven't made the jump into "real" solo travel like the guys and gals on here do. My goal right now is to explore the US through hitchhiking and bus travel and if I meet some people who are well versed in train hopping I may try also.

Feel free to message me if you wanna chat about trips you are planning or practice languages. I can speak decent spanish and am learning mandarin.

Monthly Goals

  1. Paying the Bills
    $50.00 of $50.00 - reached!
The first $50 in donations go towards paying our monthly server fees and adding new features to the website. Once this goal is reached, we'll see about feeding Matt that burrito.
  2. Buy Matt a Beer
    $70.75 of $75.00
Now that we have the bills paid for this month, let's give Matt a hearty thank you by buying him a drink for all the hard work he's done for StP. Hopefully his will help keep him from going insane after a long day of squishing website bugs.
  3. Feed Matt a Burrito
    $70.75 of $100.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt has a beer in his hand, how about showing him your love by rewarding all his hard work with a big fat burrito to put in his mouth. This will keep him alive while programming new features for the website.
  4. Finance the Shopping Cart
    $70.75 of $200.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt is fed, perhaps it's time to start planning for those twilight years under the bridge... if only he had that golden shopping cart all the oogles are bragging about these days.

I'mma cut to the chase: You don't call me what I consider to be a slur or insult, and I won't call you names.
You say I should love myself and have more self-confidence. You've got it all wrong. I love myself plenty, and I know for a fact that I am capable of doing incredible things, both good and evil.
You say fake it till you make it. I'm too honest for that. Instead I will have faith in myself, and act accordingly.
These new rules for the train riding forum are ridiculous. I've been on here for 5 ish years.

I read your story last month about working in Alaska. I got a job in Naknek this summer. Definitely can get how it felt like jail. I fear it's really going to feel that way with this virus. We can't go into town. I'm not very happy about that since it will limit my exploring. Yet I really need the opportunity right now. Anymore advice is much appreciated.
Anyone been to Thailand or know anything about Thailand? Going in September and have absolutely no plans yet, open to suggestions!
Cincy, somehow is full of kids last year or so, like it.
Last week i took some trains i ain't rode in a while. Sparks->elko->green river->cheyenne->denver->amarillo->belen
I did some really important tweaking of the navigation menu on StP today. It should be significantly easier for mobile users to get around :)
Anyone in Chicago?!? Just rolled into town, next stop Minneapolis
