How long do you stay in a town that isn't your destination if you can't hitch out and have to walk a good ways. Train

Some places are kinda hard to get out the way you want. Hate to have to backtrack to go forward or stay too long. Ya know like it's cool if you're traveling but I think more than a day or 2 it's time to roll out. When I hitch I have a destination for work. No day labor here. Hate to be a pain asking for shit to survive or offer work for food or whatever. Haven't hitched in 5 years it's been a month from NYC to California I'm 3/4 there. Don't lie steal or do drugs. Just feel bad having to stick around don't want to be a drain on community if there's nothing for me to do but exist or walk the fuck out or wait 2 more days. Idk

I've never been much into hitchhiking, but going into lesser known areas is a favorite pastime of mine. How long to stay depends on the person, if you have a bankroll, and the town/city. If there's not much to see or do, move on fast. If you're broke and there's no work, the same applies. Also, LEO's in the area; are they friendly, or looking for a reason to hassle you? If it's a cool place and you have cash, take it in, as those memories are the ones that last a lifetime.
