well y'all I did it.
What was supposed to be an overnight hitch with a trucker became a cross country week long ordeal. I think I hit the hitch lottery because as a female this could've gone completely different and now I'm concerned that even if I attempt to do this again (something I will and currently still need to) it won't compare in terms of safety and cleanliness. Friendly family man, just enjoyed the company. No weirdness. (Never let my guard down.) Showed and explained things to me about trucking in general, stops, etc. I finally get the "adventure bug" thats talked about.
I did mess up beforehand and misplaced my ID before I left, so traveling without it is going to nearly impossible. If anyone has any tips or has had luck with certain motels/hotels that turn an eye to that if paying cash...(I know legally they're supposed to ID and have card on file but you never know.)
Currently trying to line up another hitch/ride share to my next destination thats a state away before dark.
