I guess one could easily state that Jesus was the first radical, and that his radical actions brought him to his death. In many places even today, radical thinking and teaching gets one killed.
I've been searching for truth most of my life, but for some reason I always come back to the bible.
As a Lutheran who went to Catholic schools, I was kind of startled as to being treated as someone who was different.
That was well over 40 years ago.... when I was growing up in Brooklyn NY during the 1970s, 80s....
Today, I live about 90 miles away, in a small dirty old town that is trying to reinvent itself.
There is a very old First Congregational Church walking distance from me, which I briefly attended back in the early 90s.
I remember when REVS came up for a visit, we went there, and he was impressed.
I stopped going once the congregation wanted me to get more involved.
But now, I'm thinking about going back.
The fact that the church goes back to 1677, with the church being opened in 1821 is really saying something, as I appreciate all things historical.
I found out they are a part of the UCC United Church of Christ, so I decided to dig a little further.
Looking at the UCC's website and especially their youtube page, I was amazed to see how active they are when it comes to defending Mother Earth, they are hard core enviromentalists - so I knew I was in from the get-go.
I watched a video of a choir singing with my mouth open the whole time, as it mind as well had been the Manson family singing, the people wore whatever they had, a couple of the girls that were barefoot, and the singing was off key and slightly out of time to the point of being immaculate.
That is what going to church is all about to me !!
Here's the thing.
If you do something, or practice something, believe in something with a real love in your heart, than it can never be wrong.
I'm totally into Christ's teachings, but I loath the idea of being labled as a Christian, as I probably worship the earth, our air,trees,water,animals.... more than anything else as I recognize the importance of our ecology as a whole - just like the UCC folks who are also into Judaism and Islam too but that's another topic for another day.
Am I an Anarchist ?? Not anymore....
Am I a Christian ?? Not in the manner that most define that word.
Last night, I consumed 4 pints of Ice Cream Man brew.
Today I woke up to find something that happened inside here that I cannot expain.
After I feed the birds which I'm doing next, and talking to the trees here, I will make breakfast, then sit on my deck with my morning tea and do my off and on daily bible reading.
I will also think about the idea of being a Christian Anarchist.
But again, I think there already was/is one who can be used as a role model, and that is Christ Jesus.
