Hello, I wanted to introduce myself. I had actually made one of these but it never posted, so if you see a second thread here in the introductions, I apologize for being a broken record. Lol
My name is Lere, 37, currently in central Wisconsin.
I use to be semi-active here years ago. I had kind of retired the traveling life for a long time. I hitchhiked/hopped a handful of freight for over 10 years. I started when I was a teen, retired at 28. I'm in school for diesel technology and am a technician in a shop working on garbage trucks. I graduate in May, and have already found out I sort of hate shop life. 60+ hours a week, working 6 days a week for the rest of my life with maybe two weeks vacation sounds miserable. I'm looking to get into fifo work (fly in/fly out) in the mining industry (feel free to hate on me for that) because it will allow me to continue to travel while making an income. And at the very least, well, I know diesel engines now, I could be helpful for any skoolie caravan.
When I graduate, I plan on hitting the road again. I'm here to chat, make connections, get any good tips for seasonal work, learn more about bus/van dwelling and so on.
Some questions for yall ta get a convo going I guess ---
How long ya been traveling ? Favorite mode of moving about (hitchhiking/freight/rubber trampin' ext for example) got any favorite spots? Dream destinations ? For you seasonal workers, what kind of work do you mostly do and what seasons are they ?
Oh and any one in central Wisconsin? It fhcking sucks here, everyone is so conservative, I'm dying to make like minded friends over here 😭 👉👈🥺
