I've been traveling the west coast for the last 3 months, there are travelers EVERYWHERE. Where I am now in Arizona is basically where everyone hides out for the winter and you can't go anywhere without meeting travelers. I guess it really depends on where you are, I bet you won't be meeting...

I prefer glasses when traveling.. but I got drunk and ran into the ocean and lost my glasses so now I'm back to wearing contacts. Just make sure to keep the contact solution in your case relatively clean and you shouldn't have a problem.

I'm not a spiritual person. What I mean is don't take more than you need, and be thankful for whatever you do get. Being greedy and expecting things to be handed to you and not being appreciative won't get you very far in life. That's just my mantra, and what I think.

This! I just got rid of a deadline I had because it was stressing me out way too much, and making it harder to enjoy what I was experiencing in the moment. I like to travel slow, and see and learn as much I can.

I drive around looking for street kids, usually find them in parks, under bridges, dive bars, I've also met mad travelers in Walmart parking lots all over the country

I drink in my van while parked at night all the time. Have definitely gotten drunk in Walmart parking lots more than a couple times! But I have curtains and there's no way to see in the van if I don't want anyone too, I highly recommend having it setup like that.

Also, most rest stops you can stay at for up to 8 hours, which is nice because you have a bathroom close by and usually water access as well. And some of them have free coffee depending what state you're in!

Go to Oregon! I just spent the last 3 weeks traveling down south, grants pass had mad travelers and was gorgeous, and Portland was a blast

I honestly think you'd be better off buying a trailer, especially with a child and winter coming. I don't know where you plan on staying but if it's somewhere it's gonna be cold, you'll need an actual shelter. Otherwise, I would look into real estate listings for abandoned/condemned houses...

That's messed up. I can't imagine any doctor who actually cared about their patient could make someone go cold turkey from a drug like that, being aware of the effects. I would ask them to work with you on a plan to get weaned off.

You could also sleep in your car at any campsite as well if you don't have a tent. Walmart parking lots, and rest stops are good places to sleep as well.

If you have a tent check out the website free campsites.net, I just traveled across the country for the third time this year and have found some super awesome places on there. I can't speak for Santa Monica specifically but if you plan on tramping around it's very useful.

Also, maybe try smoking pot if yer into that, helped me a lot.

You have to wean yourself off. I went cold turkey from a 3 year benzo addiction but not everyone can handle that. Also be prepared for the long term, permanent damage it causes you. Good luck.
