Ashville, NC rebuilding

I always heard that Ashville was quite hospitable to travelers and I always wanted to travel there and see if I can find work, labor ready, event work, odd jobs, etc. Im pretty able body and capable I can do almost any job and its never been a challenge to find work when needed. I'm in Virginia so I'm very aware of the toll Helene took on that city which felt to me like my dreams had been dashed a bit when it happened.

Anyone here plugged into Ashville enough to know what the scenario is with the rebuilding phase and if they're still hospitable to travelers looking for work? Id love to make a difference in rebuilding that city if possible. I'm in Richmond so I can ride the sporty down and camp wherever if need be once he weather turns.

I signed up through Asheville Habitat for Humanity. It was super easy and I get to pick what shifts is want to work and when. They still have a really hospitable public camping situation which is inspiring. I plan to call someone in town directly next week and see if I can't dig up further info and make a direct connection.
