Hello, I'm pretty new to this site. Been lurking for a couple of weeks. I'd like to say, you all are a very lovely group ;-)

So to start things off, I'm newly homeless, or will be in a weeks time. Not gonna lie, I'm scared/excited about it. My life was pretty boring before this, the same thing day in and day out. Depression hit me pretty hard from this mundane way of living.

So I'm on here to gain new insight and see where I can go from this new starting point. I'm not a misfit, but I don't fit in with the normies either. I'm kinda that, in between, person.

Anyway, I'm in a city known as Ventura. It's between Santa Barbara and LA. I wouldn't mind someone to point me into a direction that would be a good starting point. Like I mentioned before, I'm pretty new to this? All ideas are welcomed. Thanks for reading.

Welcome!

How do you see yourself living? Where do you want to go?

If you are worried about going too far at first, you're in a prime spot for bumming on the coast. Santa Monica/Venice are pretty easy places to camp, find free food and resources, and meet lots of other travelers.
There are also lots of hardcore homebums who you may or may not kick it with. You'll figure out your balance.

The PCH and 101 are super easy to hitch in either direction. Ocean Beach/San Diego are fun. You could head north and explore Big Sur, Monterrey, Santa Cruz.

If you have the gear to sleep out anywhere, rain or shine, your possibilities are endless. Food is super easy to come by. If you have some kind of talent, you can make money as you go.

Ready, set, ...

I would love to go up north, and wild camping has been on my mind as of late. I heard some just take a bike through the west coast and camp at the beaches. Would be nice to do, but the season is getting colder. As for the talent part, I have yet to figure that out lol. But you have your entire life to figure out what you're good at. I should check out the other threads on wild camping.

You could head south, and get to Slab City for the Dirty Scouts Jamboree at the end of October.

You'd be able to meet a bunch of us in person, and get tips and such from more experienced travelers!

I'd say it's a win-win situation.
I just read up on the place and it seems like an awesome location. I have no idea what to expect... It's a good feeling. Thanks!

Welcome to STP!! And nice intro as well. Oh and I second @Viking_Adventurer suggestion of the Jamboree in the Slabs - you'll be seeing some of the mods here as well :)
