Another introduction from a midwesterner here. My name is Gideon the Storyteller. Born and raised in Michigan and dipped out to the west coast to start travelling when I was 19, after standing up and suddenly walking out of a college class.

Rode my bicycle cross crountry, walked, hitchhiked, and later rubbertramped for years in my trusty Grand Caravan. Stayed at lots of communes, was at Occupy in nyc, tons of adventures, just generally rambled about like a G.

Finally settled down five years later in 2015 when I came up from work in the triangle and got a house on 8 mile in Detroit. Did my thing there for years (also a part of fireweed universe city if any of y'all have been) until my house burned in 2018, Sept 11 to be precise (no, this one wasn't a false flag.) Devastated. Worked doing consulting and then went off to Columbia for the first half of 2019. Good time.

Finally achieved my longterm goal and got a big farm in SE MI I bought in june 2020 aaaand now I'm bored lol. Currently doing some ch ro work for a fender bender then once better thinking of getting an rv or truck camper and hitting the road again, at least for the rest of winter.

Anyways, that's my story, if anyone has any cool destinations they're at they'd like to recommend, or wants some company, drop an invite. Alternately, if you need a place to stay in Michigan reach out, I'm considering maybe a ecovillage/wwoof setup since I finally have the 20 acres I've always wanted.

Oh and I almost forgot! I make badass travelling music. Check out my stuff on gideonthestoryteller.bandcamp.com or I'm also on Spotify.

Peace out yo if you're good peoples hope to see around

Welcome Gideon.

Is that an egg your holding(I always have eggs and chickens on the back of my mind)?

I’ve always wanted to see Michigan.

When I was a kid me and my brother played in a hockey tournament in Detroit.

Dad took us across the border to buy cheaper gear.

I‘d love to see the living ruins that is Detroit.

I climbed this volcano in Colombia and on the top the ground was steaming and the dirt was this hot clay. I took some of it and formed a volcanic dragonball! Much of the blight in Detroit has been removed but it still has a long way to go. Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome!

I'm curious to know what kind of consulting you did? Making money for talking seems like a pretty okay gig.

Some similarities; I had a Ford Windstar for a few years in my late 20s. While some friends called me soccer mom, I loved that thing. It was spacious as I never kept the back seats in, got good gas, and compared to other vehicles I had I felt invisible to cops.

Also I loved Columbia. What did you get to see?
I really enjoyed Bogota, Barichara, Salento, and thought Popoyan was cool too.

Lastly, I looked you up on spotify to give you a listen but couldnt find ya?

It was basically similar to site planning and facility buildout. Sort of fell into the work and I'm good at it.

Soccer mommobiles cannot be beat! Let them laugh cuz it's a near optimal form of travelling, as I'm sure you realized

Pereira was nice, Salento was beautiful but full of German backpackers, but the valley there and coffee region is beautiful. My favorite spot was Medellin hands down. Spent months there and fell in love with the city despite its faults. I'll do bogota maybe in the future.

Gideon the storyteller on spotify, motor city comeup. Or try the bandcamp link. Thanks and take care
