As the title said.... What iz the best beer you have had to date and why? I am just getting into all of that and i have a tender place in my heart for sweet beers. I dont mind the bitter ones so much but anything is worth a try once. I had a beer that changed my life a year or so ago. It was labled almost heavenly. I forgot whom it was by but i do know it was from a brewery here in west virgina.

Amber ales are my favourite. Beau's brewery in Ontario put out an absolutely perfect amber ale called Strong Patrick (labeled Feirce Patrick when exported to USA) for the St Patrick's season.

Outside of Amber ales, Muskoka brewery makes a Winter's Beard double chocolate cranberry stout. This thing came in an absolutely gorgeous box, and really blew me away with how good it tasted.

I'm doubling down on what @Hillbilly Castro said. North Coast Brewing Company - Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. That beer is so good! Honorable mention goes to; Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company - Smoke Chaser barley wine ale.

I don't drink too much beer nowadays but when I do decide I'll end up with a "meal" of a drink and go for a porter or a stout - but do like to find in the winter months a sam adams chocolate porter - thick and rich and man alive filling.

I don't know what it was called, but it was a black IPA at West Flanders brewery in Boulder. It was only a couple days old and had bits of hops floating in it.

Pete's Wicked Ale. Company went bankrupt after being bought out some time ago, but some times the new owners (of the brand) put it out in limited quantities. Sad, cuz it was truly great.

One is too hard to nail down, but I will go with Shiner Bock because of the company I kept when I was drinking it on the regular.

Some of my favorites:

Easy to find - PBR and Rogue Dead Guy Ale.
Not as easy - Shiner Bock, Ziegenbock
Microbrews - O'Fallon Blackberry Scottish Style (Missouri), Lucky Bucket (Omaha, NE)

My all time fav beer was actually brewed by my twin sister in chemistry class!! And of course she gave it to me because she knows beer's my one true love... (Thanks sis!!)

Maple syrup and cinnamon flavor!! 12%, that shit was kick ass!!

Unfortunately she lost the recipe so that was the last of its kind :( Brings a tear to my eyes just thinking about it...

Delirium Tremens is exceptional stuff

but my go-to is the Uroboros Stout by Anthem Brewing Co (it's local where I live heh), it is a real solid choice.

my roomy likes the Buffalo Sweat but I think it tastes like water when compared to the Uroboros.

my brother likes the Trappists Rochefort but I have never had the pleasure of trying it
