Hey well im new to the whole idea of train hopping and ive been going all over the net to figure out what i need and what kinda rail car to hop on and you know basic tips and tricks im leaving from toronto canada and i plan on a month or two trip across and around canada if anyone had any more tips tricks or anything to help would be much appreciated thank you

put a shirt on. copious amounts of chest hair do not count as "warm clothes"

Just teasing Wayne. Welcome to STP.
Honest advice: Dont ride your first train in the cold north in January. Plainly put, you're gonna die.
Go south, hitch if you gotta leave in January. Or stick around for 6 months, and ride some trains up there in the summer, good times.
If you absolutely must ride your first train in mid january:
Go naked, you'll suffer less.

im now thinking about hitch hiking but im not really a personable person anyone have any tips on hitch hiking what to do and what to watch out for let me know
