Very cool pics!!!! I like the "wet mattress" hehe. Some of the pics didn't come out here But I went and looked up what a peacock bass looks like ---- wow they get big -- and beautiful - reminds me of a giant perch!

yeah, i saw that and was like, 'yeah i'd do it' but it took me back for a second.

Haha. No, not at all. The strangest part is skinning and quartering. Pretty much an exact copy of us. All the guts are in exactly the same place. And the fingers have fingerprints! :O But they are some of the tastiest meat around. I'd probably eat human meat if I had to. Really it's a cultural stigma. Many indiginous tribes practiced cannibalism fairly often, it's just European culture that gave us this extreme aversion to doing it. We probably taste pretty good, actually.

Some days, in the early evening, just before dark, bands of hundreds of these monkeys would swarm the trees over camp.

Nah, piranhas are not a serious risk in the Amazon. That's all Hollywood. They're something of a staple food for me!

oh, and did you make decent money selling that booze?

Sure! Invested about 100 reais in booze, limes, sugar, and ice. After 3 days made about 600 reais! Selling booze is fun because the party always comes to you!

Thanks man. Sure, I'm working on writing some more stuff down on hitchtheworld. I'm guiding some gringos around in a week or so and will catch up while they are fishing!

Hey man...yeah well I always wanted to go to the Amazon, I hitchhiked to Chile, lived there for a year or two, then hitched to Brazil and fell in love with the rivers.

The raft was definitly inspired by Huck Finn-like fantasies
