Greetings people. Names Alex, though people tend to give me a nickname once i get known, so ill see if that applies here (feel free). Just came out of rehab, treatment, whatever you want to call it after 21/22 months but during those months i managed to escape one of the centers which i was being detained at in Utah at the time and rode my first train but unfortunantly once i got back into LA i was picked up and escorted to wilderness for 3 months where i picked up some awesome primitive survival skills. since i have been back ive gone in and out of deep depressions and I have come to the realization that i need to get the fuck out. I do have 3 dogs that i love very much so i dont wanna be a dick and just leave for my benefit right away. im planning on going to arcata (ya i know burnt out), but i wanna go to a show there on oct. 24 so if anybodys got any good information or wants to help me get out of LA because i know its hard, it would be much apreciated. As far as sobriety goes, it did suck for the first two weeks when i got back. (come on booze and weeds to good!!)

Sobriety does suck. I don't drink or partake in weed. Life STILL sucks ass. I guess it's not about drinking/smoking or not drinking/smoking. I guess it's about something else that I haven't found yet.

If you find it boring, you probably are.

Thomas Jefferson actually quoted along the same lines...haha....

i sincerely hope you find yer way and what you're lookin for alex. there are many distractions on the road and many lessons that we learn. What we might think are downfalls....can actually be used to our advantage - i.e. you got caught in L.A. and sent to a wilderness camp - but you learned survival skills in spite of it. Learn to see the blessings in disguise!! we can always find something good out of the bad. keep an open mind and heart and spread light and love and you'll be taken care of. :) as far as your depression goes...maybe look in to changin yer diet? or maybe some major lifestyle Changes are in way???? see you down tha road ~ and happy travels ~

i do tend to find the good in bad things, such as learning wilderness skills (excellent example by the way). and as far as changes go i do plan on getting out of la soon and most likely wont be using as much if any so im looking forward to that so i dont let my depression completely overwhelm me. i am doing a lot better with it, proudly without medication. thanks by the way.

depression will happen after getting clean. you've emotionally arrested yourself by doign drugs in order to numb away these feelings and block out things you should have dealt with and the substance abuse creates more bad things that show up after you get your head back on straight.

basically what I'm saying it.. once you're sober, there is still a lot of catching up to do and a lot of dues to be paid.

if you can manage to stay sober through the hardest part of sobriety - the first few years of ups and downs and long-term consequenses - then you win.

things will get better though. you'll figure out what makes you happy after you learn how to live life again.

I got to the point when I was so drunk and drugged out that I always hated everything and when I got sober I realized I had no idea what I actualy LIKED anylonger. took me a while to figure that out.
