My family and I live on our small off grid homestead with a small subsistence herd of sheep. Once all lambs are born and mobile and grass is growing again we will be moving around more again.
I am open to visitors or "helpers" who want a super rural place to camp for a while. We may be acquiring other property and if that happens my place may be for rent then for someone that isn't a total joker.
We don't drink, do drugs or use technology heavy. We have a four year old who doesn't see screens besides in civilization. If you are passing by we could meet in town and go from there. Going out on a limb here.

I'm currently in Pennsylvania and interested. I am vegan so, I'm not down with slaughtering animals, but if there is some way I can help out that aligns with my values, I would love to help out.

Hi! I'm not looking for housing necessarily but I'll be moving to a job with housing in Coudersport PA for the summer. Have over 5 years of farming experience, grew up on a homestead with sheep, etc. Always looking to meet new cool people though and I love Kane (lived there last summer) and the Allegheny National Forest. Feel free to PM if you want to connect.

Well Hurin we try to grow a fair amount but definitely not enough to subsist. We forage a lot too along with dumpstering in the next town over sometimes. The only store in town gives us throwaway produce every week and we buy organic produce.
We are open to a hand with wood and any other projects. We are actually moving more remote and will have plenty there to do as well, walking the herd a lot more probably because there are way more woods and it is still off grid.
We don't actually slaughter all that much but do milk all summer into fall. Pick up more roadkill than anything the last 6 months.

Also wanted to say Hurin that the death of an animal, especially at my hands is no small deal nor do I get any enjoyment out of it as much as I do watching them live and roam and be free. We do things a lot different than most people with our intensive animal human relationships.
To take a life is a major thing and I often experience deep sadness and joy.
Industrial food is no sustainable thing but my animals absolutely are. I can step from our culture with them in ways. I couldn't live a semi sustainable life off grid using my body, to excess at times, only on store bought or even homegrown vegetables.
I am not anti vegan, I myself was somewhat of one and that was after I stopped hunting for a bit.

Im interested in working on the farm and helping out as much as possible. I have work that intermittently requires me to use technology and I take weekly classes but other than that, I prefer to disconnect as much as possible. I read and draw mostly. I also meditate a lot.

I'm not far from central PA. It'd be cool to schedule maybe a week or two in the next month and see if works for all parties.

I would be down to help with things like milking and am not necessarily opposed to doing this kind of small scale dairy work when it is not something that is stealing out of the mouths of animals. To some degree I do accept the circle of life and I am realistic about things like that, but just love animals way too much for participating in taking their lives, but if you have other work as you say, I am not shy about shit like chopping wood all summer in exchange for a chill place to camp. I also do a lot of foraging, mostly mushrooms, because thats what I have gotten most familiar with, but also things like ramps where it's sustainable to do so. I also do like going shooting and things like that (shooting clays is usually a lot of fun), just don't actually do the hunting part myself. I am a pretty good cook though and am always down to contribute communal meals for anybody willing to chow down on some vegan grub. Honestly I can't wait for Chicken of the Woods season to start up... Anyway, DM if you think I would fit in up there. I am currently making my way through PA on trains again. I am almost to Harrisburg, but I could change directions if things work out. I am sorry if I don't respond right away sometimes, I have kind of limited access to charging my phone at the moment, but I will get back to you eventually.
