I gave up on my wooden boat and got another plastic sailor. This is an Irwin 31 from 1968. The rigging has been replaced, furler restored, new head sail, bottom just painted, and has a good yanmar disel. She has a swing keel too! This boat just needs some deck paint and a few cosmetic repairs. I was too excited sailing today to sanp pictures. This is my first boat with functional instruments, chart plotter, and auto helm. It was an exciting day.

Nice. 31' is right about what I'm looking for when I finally pull the trigger. Probably best to trade in the wooden boat for fiberglass....unless you have tons of cash to throw at it.

were you specifically looking for a swing keel? if i got a boat that size i'd just go with a fixed keel. but congrats, man! I'm glad you're able to at least get it out sailing sooner rather than later :)

I used to be a fixed keel guy, but the shoals can be a real bummer so its nice to have the option of 4.5 ft draft or 9 ft.
