There is a lot to know, especially for a noob who has never left his bedroom. You need to be very specific with your questions, watch and read the forums on traveling, find someone experienced who is willing to show you the ropes (this can oftentimes be one of the hardest things for noobs), be respectful, and use common sense. Beyond that, it's hard to be more specific without actual questions, concerns, etc. that you have, brought up directly.

Good luck

srsly though, this place is filled with dirty stinky crusty gutter punks and shit. the kind of dirty kids that sleep behind dumpsters. just make sure you figure out what kind of travelin youre into. if youre the kind of person who would never sleep outside a hotel or have to eat garbage, you might be in the wrong place. just saying.

This is what I'm thinking, and forgive me if I'm wrong, but I've met people. like you before on the road.

People with multi-million dollar trust funds, or something similar, who just said "fuck-it" because they didn't want to deal with the politics, etc. that went along with it. In fact, I traveled with one such person for a while. They do exist.

If you've got stuff to sell to start you off and get you some gear, that's great, but don't get too reliant on money. Also, if you have too good of gear you have to be careful too, because there are always assholes out there who think that anyone with better stuff than them has to "pay a tax" (for lack of a better term). Every one of us has experienced this at least once

Its up to you how you want to start this new chapter in your life, but realize, not everything in this world can be bought with money. Sometimes you pay with your integrity, you can barter, etc.
