Hi everyone. I thought I would give this place a try as I hate Reddit but there’s a great community of houseless people online.
I’m in Cornwall, UK. Currently hobo life 5 days a week working in construction and then back to my boat on the weekends.

If you are a regular visitor of r/vagabond you may recognise my name 👍

And no, I’m not Tom Segura 🤣

How's boat life in Cornwall treating you? Hear great things about the place. Any insights to the cost of owning one out there?
It's still on the hard at the minute. Trying to get a few things finished before I can get into the water. Tbf at this point I'm taking my time as it's not the best weather.
Cornwall is expensive to put your boat anywhere, and they have restrictions coming out of their arse. Its doable tho.
Cornwall is a great spot. Busked in Falmouth for a while and averaged £50ish for 3-4 hours of playing the same old 3 improvs on acoustic lol

That's pretty good. I love busking, but it's so overregulated that I'm afraid to open my guitar case in cities unless I know people or specific laws.

I'm in Southern Arizona for Snowbird (elderly tourism) season and literally made no money yesterday. Social Security and disability pays out on the first of the month, so my people were all broke.

They gave me water and food bank food instead. I can't wait to get out there again today and show off some Chappell Roan and John Prine I just learned.

What a combination! You can't do THAT at open Mike night. I still do my share of Pete Seeger and campfire songs.

Commodification of the arts is a problem everywhere, but I remember a lot more buskers and respect for buskers on your side of the pond.

I'm on Soundcloud but as an old Gnu/Linux user, I never got into jamming online during the pandemic.

Can't stand Reddit. You might check out Raddle (red frog site) for politics, but there isn't much of a housefree community there.

I'm a Rubber Tramp, but interested in sailing and boats because they are cool.

I also talk too much, obviously.

Yeah it’s definitely cold on my arse in my hammock. I wrap myself up in a 13 tog duvet tho. Not sure how long I’ll be able to take it once it gets to January-February.

Where abouts are you?

As long as you're keeping warm you'll be alright man, I'd try find a squat to crash at when things really start to drop off at least that's what I'm doing right now, and im currently in Derby for work dont know how much longer ill be here tho as things are slowing down

Feel your pain there mate, half the squats here are taken over by the junkies and the others are all boarded up so much it's a waste of time getting in them, I got lucky with my squat as its near this rock/punk venue so at least I get some decent music blasting while im sorting things out lol

I was banned 3x for a week cause William plane the mod got me on abusive behavior, I told a traveler who was looking to carry his addiction into traveling as the answer. From experience, the grass isn't always greener on the other side, so I got banned.messages the mod explaining my case, banned , then banned for participating in common like-minded vagabond threads. The mods kicked out hobo huck on some sexual alligators and physically obtained the site from Reddit , they booted hobo huck & forever won't explain it to any one on Reddit, there is a thread here and it's a Dropbox type info, one sided tbh but never heard hucks side. Ive met huck and he is a really smart hobo & transient.
Either way Redit mods on r/vagabond are out of hand banning people .. they're Cyber travelers , never have been on the road just enthusiastic about the lifestyle from what I can tell. They cheer on the most oogle posts to gain shock value I think. Mr. Armenian was banned from here numerous times lol, and on redit he exploits homelessness as there is a choice in addiction & housing issues... Good luck and good speed!

alright @Crucifiedhobo - i'm just down the road in bloody Devon - not far from the hippie hellhole of Totnes !

I've lived all over Cornwall in the past, there was a great traveller site on an old army base on the Lizard for years, also Porthtowan / Padstow / Looe / Rame peninsula - don't know why I'm telling you all this though !

could you put a burner in your boat if you're still on dry land at the moment ?

Forgive my ignorance, what is a burner?

I argued a few times with Mr Armenian, but he was fucked up from what I could tell. There was a time when there were a good few actual vagabonds posting regularly on there, but as is life, most move on...or probably got banned.
I quit that sub a few times. More than once it was because there were people cheering on people going through a mental health crisis and wanting to join the life. People on various serious meds.
The obvious eventual outcome is obvious.
Like you say, it's mainly oogles.
